Putting together this Lappland the Decadenza look truly allowed me to indulge in the thrill of being fully armed.
The long, straight silver-white hair paired with grayish-white animal ears instantly put me into character the moment I put them on. The red bow hair accessory dotting the side of the ear injected a touch of playfulness into the overall sharp and cool color palette. To accurately replicate the details, the makeup intentionally emphasized deep red eyeshadow and red lips this time, which not only fits the character setting but also gives the on-camera effect a stronger visual impact.
The material selection and layering of the clothing serve as the soul of this look. The outer layer of glossy black leather jacket features excellent texture, presenting rich reflective effects under the studio lighting. Paired with a white shirt, a dark necktie, and orange accents at the collar, the layers are distinct. What catches the eye most is undoubtedly the cape design on the back; the exterior is navy blue while the interior flips over to reveal a vibrant red, with golden circular chain decorations wrapping down right at the seam. When moving around, the color-clashing of the inside and outside creates a powerful dynamic flow, which, paired with the active snapshots during the shoot, provides immense visual tension.
The lower body's combination of a black short skirt and long boots is clean and sharp. The stack of a black totem tattoo on the thigh with grayish-white stockings counts as a highly interesting detail, and the addition of a leg ring makes the styling look even more heroic. The shoes selected were thick-soled black boots, which both elongate the body lines and ensure a solid sense of standing and walking on the vintage wooden floor. The small folding fan printed with red and blue characters held in hand serves as both a small prop to enrich the frame and fits the handling feel wonderfully.
This shooting venue was located inside a wooden tavern steeped in vintage sentiment. The heavy wooden liquor cabinet, various wine bottles, and the carved bar counter in the background all added points to the atmosphere of the entire set of photos. Regarding lighting, to complement this sharp styling, the photographer opted for relatively hard light to reinforce the contours of the leather jacket and the three-dimensionality of the facial features, giving the frame a cold, grim, and sharp texture.
The highlight remains that peculiar long-handled scythe weapon combining silver-white and black-gray. The cold metallic texture of the prop, against the backdrop of the wooden environment, highlights a sense of fantasy that transcends daily life. During the shoot, I experimented with multiple postures, such as leaning lazily against the edge of the bar counter, lifting the folding fan to serve as a temporary focus, or grasping the end of the scythe handle for a close-range interactive perspective. This wide-angle shooting approach heavily tests facial expression management, yielding images with intense first-person interactiveness.
Every time I present a character with such rich details and accessories, the actual preparation work and on-site adjustments are quite extensive. From managing the wig to avoid frizz, preventing the leather jacket from overexposing due to reflections, to the hand placement for holding the weapon props, everything required careful coordination with the photographer. However, seeing that reserved yet confident cool atmosphere emerge in the final photos, I feel all the preparations were fully worth it. One look, one scene, a stretch of focused shooting time—every roleplay is an exploration of style, and I believe this glimpse inside the retro tavern can bring viewers a unique visual experience.
