Wrapping up this set of Genshin Impact Klee outdoor photos at Kunming Expo Garden, the overall real-scene atmospheric vibe turned out much higher than expected. The natural lighting on the shoot day was fantastic, especially during late afternoon to sunset when the sunlight slanted down, perfectly complementing Klee's classic red four-leaf clover outfit and making it stand out brightly in the frame. Instead of relying heavily on complex indoor studio lighting, we made full use of the original architecture and plants in the Expo Garden as backgrounds, allowing the character to integrate more naturally with the environment.
Let's talk about some details regarding makeup and styling. The wig was chosen in a creamy white-to-pale yellow tone with blunt bangs and side twin braids; its luster was great, looking quite natural on camera. The red contact lenses paired with prosthetic elf ears formed the core soul of the whole look; during application, I paid close attention to pupillary distance and ear seam seamlessness, as side angles could easily give it away. Regarding the costume, the red-and-dark-brown jacket had golden trim along the edges, and the fluffy hair texture on the chest and scarf was faithfully recreated. Though the dark brown backpack on my back was quite substantial, filling it with lightweight stuffing maintained its shape without adding too much burden during shooting. The matching white gloves looked great on camera when gripping props or holding fixed poses.
During the shoot, the photographer and I coordinated across different scene zones. In front of the outdoor blue window backdrop, I tried cute gestures raising both hands, being careful to lift my shoulders slightly and tuck my chin to make my face look smaller, where the white gloves created a striking contrast against dark brown cuffs. Near the flower bed by the benches, I switched to holding a prop shield. The shield surface featured golden vine totems; though made of lightweight materials, holding it up with one hand combined with pointing toward the lens added a layer of visual interaction and presence—resembling a playful warning before battle or before cooking up a mischievous plot.
The kneeling posture in photo five is a frame I personally love, which is why I picked it as the cover photo. Flesh-toned pantyhose on the lower body paired with brown short boots naturally accented leg lines in this style of sitting posture, while resting both hands atop my head made the whole pose feel relaxed and adorable—perfectly matching Klee's lively, playful, and childishly charming in-game persona. From this angle, the skirt tailoring and scarf drape were presented completely.
Speaking of the surroundings, Kunming Expo Garden is truly well-suited for Anime-style photography outdoors. Beyond rich natural foliage, the park features giant doll installations, such as the life-sized Nutcracker in the background of photo three; its vivid colors complemented the character's red-and-white outfit without feeling out of place, resembling a fairy-tale theme park setting instead. Toward evening, setting sunlight filtered through tree branches, where side-backlight close-ups dyed the edges of my hair strands in a warm golden halo and outlined the contours of the elf ears clearly. Though half a day of shooting involved plenty of walking, taking advantage of Klee's fish-blasting meme made for a delightful exploration across the city.
