Today, I present an official Game cosplay photoshoot set for Hsin from Wuthering Waves. To faithfully portray this character, substantial thought went into the costume and props during pre-production. The outfit features color-blocked tailoring in red, white, and black, with a fitted black corset bodice across the chest accented by a large red gemstone and golden chain embellishments. The sleeves feature flared cuffs trimmed with white fur, while the gracefully draping skirt incorporates an asymmetrical high slit designed to flatter leg contours. For headwear, I hand-assembled the pieces, pairing golden star-shaped metal ornaments with a silver-white gradient wig. Combined with crimson eye makeup and a scarlet huadian forehead motif, I sought to capture the character's alluring, enigmatic elegance.
The most labor-intensive elements were the fluffy white animal ears and the colossal fox tail attached at the back, adorned with golden star trinkets. Caring for faux-fur props is time-consuming, requiring constant brushing throughout the shoot to maintain volume and prevent matting. The tail carries noticeable heft; securing it at the waist required careful balancing of my center of gravity to avoid stumbling during poses. To achieve a textured, airy hair flow, the wig was treated with generous hair wax and setting spray, while I constantly checked that the ears overhead stayed aligned.
The shoot was divided across two sets. The first sequence took place in a studio using a dark backdrop to emphasize the bold red-and-white contrast of the outfit, focusing on facial emotions and upper-body nuances. The second sequence took place in an underground parking garage where the cool ambient lighting provided a stark contrast with the red-and-black palette. To heighten atmosphere, subtle red energy particles and lighting effects were added in post-production. In posing design, the high leg-lift and the hand resting on the collarbone were shot repeatedly—flicking the heavy drape into a graceful arc tested core strength, taking dozens of bursts to capture a satisfying kinetic moment. Keeping the dense fox tail beside me while maintaining a serene facial expression made handling such a large-scale Fox girl prop build quite the physical workout.
While this Chinese-style fantasy attire looks opulent, moving around in it was far from effortless. Beyond avoiding stepping on the long hem with high heels, I had to keep the wig and headpieces from shifting. Seeing how the studio light traced the velvet fabric in the finished frames made the prep and on-site adjustments deeply worthwhile. Every shutter click was an effort to resonate with this persona. This styling contains myriad details, from the chest chains to the skirt's jacquard weave, requiring ample lighting to shine. I hope you all enjoy this interpretation of Wuthering Waves.
