From the moment I decided to shoot Aemeath's stage performance costume, perfecting every garment detail became top priority. The core outfit features a form-fitting white bodysuit silhouette, layered with bold black paneling across the chest and flanks, finished with a blue bow for rich visual dimension. To recreate the skirt's airy drape infused with starry sparkle, the outer skirt utilized two tiers of translucent gradient chiffon, shifting smoothly from light blue to pale lavender as it caught the wind, trimmed with gilded geometric motifs along the hem.
Prepping this dense pink-and-white gradient wig was quite an undertaking. The hair volume was massive, demanding feathered texturing at the tips, topped by twin white wing-like horn accessories at the crown. To achieve an airy, voluminous bounce on camera, I lightly curled the ends with an iron and locked them with styling spray. On stage, gentle gusts or dynamic jumps and spins allowed the locks to scatter naturally through the air.
The studio set was assembled with great care, showcasing circular metal lighting trusses and a monochrome checkerboard floor. To match the environment, our prop kit included a silver microphone on a boom stand, a white electric guitar, and an amplifier cabinet. Holding the mic, I tested diverse stances—standing belting, side-profile singing, or resting the mic on its stand while opening both arms to channel an authentic live concert presence. Several frames captured me reaching toward the glass, creating engaging interactive depth with the camera. Sleek boots rose just below the knee, complemented by Stockings styling and a gilded thigh garter adorned with star charms. While the aesthetic was intensely photogenic, repeatedly leaping across checkerboard tiles in chunky platform heels while controlling the skirt's billow was physically exhausting; capturing mid-air hair flares required sprint-and-spin cues on repeat.
Regarding accessories, the high-collared neckpiece was somewhat rigid, demanding mindful turns to avoid snagging the wig. The black lace trims and metallic gold hardware across the bodice were hand-sewn, chosen after extensive fabric sourcing to ensure authentic texture. The white knee-high boots featured gold filigree patterns with black platform soles that clicked crisply across the set. The star thigh ring was reinforced with anti-slip backing to prevent slipping during jumps. To match Wuthering Waves Aemeath's persona, I opted for warm reddish under-eye makeup and golden contact lenses to sharpen the radiant vitality of her gaze.
Prop placement for the guitar and amplifier was fine-tuned across takes. The photographer aimed to pepper in live band elements to anchor the stage theme, often framing the guitar in a lower corner or in the mid-ground. The black-and-white tiles bounced ambient light gorgeously, which, paired with sparkling starry bokeh projected behind me, generated a dreamy ambiance. We constantly calibrated lighting angles—weaving purple mood washes with focused white spotlights across the white bodysuit to make fabric textures instantly pop.
