When this set of Hsin costumes arrived, my first reaction was that there were really a lot of accessories. To showcase that sense of layering, the inner layer was chosen as a black bandeau base, layered outside with a red glittering fabric and wide-sleeved cloaks of blue-purple gradient translucent gauze. The white fluff on the sleeves plus that pair of fluffy kemonomimi on top of the head gave the whole look a very special fantastical feel. The wig uses silver-blue long straight hair; to keep it from looking too flat, layers were deliberately cut into it, and golden flower branches and tassel hairpins were dotted among the hair strands, adding a bit of dynamic liveliness when walking and the tassels sway.

In terms of makeup, the focus highlighted red eyeshadow and red contact lenses, with a red huadian painted between the eyebrows. To better fit the atmosphere of the setting, red vine tattoos were drawn on the arms, chest, and legs. Long red manicures were chosen for the nails, adding a bit of sharpness and eerie charm from the details.

This shoot was completed at Guanzhu Studio. The wooden carved window lattices and paper doors in the studio, paired with warm yellow side-backlighting, added a lot of retro texture to the frame. The colors of the rug were already rich, so in pose design, I tried my best to stretch out my body, looking for that casual yet majestic posture. Sometimes sitting on a wooden chair with crossed legs, sometimes leaning against the carpet while supporting my head with one hand, or standing up and holding the skirt hem. Because the skirt hem of the costume has a relatively high slit, paired with transparent high heels or bare feet, the dragging lines of the fabric appear more natural when walking and turning, and the large area of skin exposure can also add a bit of visual tension.

Since both the photography and post-processing were done by myself this time, I consciously adjusted the composition during the shoot, such as using screens and mirrors as foregrounds, or using light and shadow cast at specific angles on the face to highlight the gaze and facial contours. This set of photos took a lot of thought from the early apparel organization and styling matching to the later light-and-shadow color grading. The setting of Hsin itself has a feeling of all things returning to one, so in the expression of the gaze, I tried to hold back a bit, not using too much force to show emotion, but rather hoping to present a calm and resolute state. Different directions were tried for the poses and angles of every single photo, hoping to convey this unique atmosphere through the frame.
