This time I tried a styling related to BanG Dream! Yumemita Mewtype. Actually, when processing this set of photos, I mainly focused my energy on the makeup and the layered treatment of the wig. Although the silver-gray wig looks flowing, to make it present that natural layered feel, I spent a lot of time trimming and thinning it—especially the bangs, ensuring they could frame the face shape without blocking the expression of the eyes. The light blue highlights mixed among the hair strands are the finishing touch of the overall styling, giving the otherwise cold hair color a bit of 2D vibrancy.
In the makeup department, to fit this idol-like style, I deliberately emphasized the details of the eye makeup. I chose a pink-toned eyeshadow as a large-area base, while blending red at the outer corners and under the eyes to create a slightly tipsy or endearing look. The eyeliner part was drawn relatively sharply, which, paired with false eyelashes, enlarged the contours of the eyes. What tested my patience the most were the hand-drawn tiny decorative lines around the eyes, which required an extremely fine pen tip and absolute steady hand control to achieve that exquisite yet clean effect. Of course, the choice of contact lenses is also very important; light-colored lenses can make the overall gaze look clearer.
Regarding the clothing, this pink plaid live performance outfit is quite rich in details. The texture of the fabric itself, coupled with the gold piping, makes it very easy to reflect light in front of the camera, so controlling the lighting during the shoot was crucial. The white ruffle design at the shoulders increased the overall lightness, preventing the pink from looking too heavy. The black choker on the neck provided a great visual transition, giving the overall styling a touch of coolness amidst the sweetness. I intentionally paired it with pink half-finger gloves to make hand gestures more stylized in front of the camera, which also echoed the overall color scheme. As for the headwear, this huge pink bunny ear hair accessory not only visually raised the overall center of gravity but also made the styling more recognizable.
During the shooting process, I focused more on expressing the character's energetic yet slightly proud feeling. The poses didn't need to be too complex; simple actions like gently touching the corner of the eye with one hand, or tilting the head slightly, combined with the cut of the outfit, naturally conveyed that stage presence. I would suggest that during similar shoots, try to tilt the body slightly to form a diagonal composition so the frame doesn't look too rigid. In addition, because the colors of both the costume and the wig are quite bright, a clean, solid-color wall was chosen as the background, which allowed the visual focus to concentrate entirely on the main subject and clothing details, avoiding a cluttered background stealing the spotlight. I thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of materializing a 2D character throughout the entire process; from the styling of the wig to the deliberation of every makeup detail, it was a thoroughly fascinating experience.
