[Zhen Ji cosplay] Honor of Kings Peony Romantic skin Overcast Unedited Photo Sharing

Today I'm sharing my Zhen Ji cosplay featuring the Peony Romantic skin from Honor of Kings. These are unedited RAW outputs without any filter retouching, as the shoot took place on an overcast, cloudy day with a light mist, yielding soft and even light. This diffuse natural lighting perfectly matches the tone of this pink-and-white Traditional Hanfu, evoking a hazy, watery misty vibe. The slightly muted white and soft pink in the photos preserved their authentic original flavor.

Let me first discuss the costume details. Overall, it fuses xianxia and classic Chinese style, using large panels of white as a base complemented by vibrant magenta paneling, with a rigid gold waist ornament as the visual anchor. The sleeves use a detached design—the outer layer retains pink lantern sleeve structures while connecting inside to long, floor-sweeping translucent white tulle ribbons. Waving the round fan or letting arms hang naturally creates dynamic, flowy movement with these streamers. The skirt hem features rich layered tailoring with a fitted underlayer and irregular outer layers of white and pink tulle adorned with 3D pink sewn flowers. The rich layering keeps the silhouette full even when seated.

The headpiece is a highlight I personally love. Atop the head sits a large pale pink silk flower paired with silver butterfly wings, while an exquisite silver beaded pendant drapes across the forehead with a large ruby embedded front and center, flanked by tassels and pink beads that elevate the elegance of the entire Ancient style cosplay look. Paired with the circular silk round fan in my hand—painted with classic plum blossoms and calligraphy—it becomes the core prop of this outfit, helping poses feel more natural so my hands have a graceful resting place.

As for small design choices during the shoot, I sat on a wooden boardwalk bench by the water, backed by a wide expanse of lake with layered green trees in the background, creating a serene environment. Thanks to the overcast sky, thin fog drifted over the water, which kept color tones understated and elegant whether framing head-on or profile shots. I specifically chose several angles—some facing the camera directly for a gentle look, others turning sideways looking into the distance for a relaxed vibe—guiding the overall emotion toward gentle, serene tranquility.

Regarding the text snippet saying \"I think Genshin Impact isn't necessarily better than Honor of Kings\", it's simply my personal preference for Honor of Kings' traditional Chinese aesthetic releases. It's not about declaring a winner, but rather my long-time affection for Honor of Kings and its ink-wash and traditional opera skin designs. Honor of Kings puts immense thought into traditional style designs; the Peony Romantic skin seamlessly blends Kunqu Opera elements with the in-game character, so doing this Zhen Ji cosplay was about capturing the aesthetic beauty of traditional Chinese opera as faithfully as possible.

Overcast photography certainly has downsides like lower contrast and less vivid colors, yet I chose not to force bright, sunlit clarity using post-processing filters. I wanted to record the authentic atmosphere of that day—that slightly muted, misty serenity. In the second photo, I added a subtle semi-transparent butterfly overlay on my leg to cover minor wardrobe awkwardness while sitting, using a light touch so as not to disrupt the overall ancient style atmosphere.

We didn't use harsh fill lights for this shoot, relying entirely on natural diffuse reflection so character shadows and highlights remained soft without harsh lines. I found this made makeup look cleaner and more natural without relying heavily on post-processing skin smoothing. This ensemble holds rich details, including the clear high-heeled sandals and flower anklets around my ankles.
