This time, I completed a Kochiya Sanae Cosplay shoot amidst the hydrangea bushes at Xianghu, where alignment between the natural environment and character traits was my primary focus. Wearing this blue-and-white outfit featuring detached wide sleeves while creating among lush green vegetation was an experience very true to the original setting's atmosphere during this Xianghu photoshoot.
Costume details are worth noting: the primary palette features a white top paneled with a dark blue skirt, whose cooling color scheme is perfectly suited for a summer outdoor location shoot. The dark patterned wide sash at the waist intertwines with multi-layered blue-green ties, taking considerable time to arrange to ensure it doesn't loosen during poses. Delicately edged lace around the neckline accented by a golden butterfly brooch adds an extra layer of refinement to the look. The frog headpiece atop the head is an iconic element for character recognition, paired with neatly trimmed emerald green long straight hair with blunt bangs. Fixing points required careful adjustment when fitting the wig to maintain its structure under intense outdoor light and motion. For makeup, a translucent base was paired with dewy lips and high-saturation green contact lenses, keeping eye makeup natural to preserve her innocent yet confident expression.
Regarding location selection, Xianghu features dense clusters of white hydrangeas, where background greenery forms a lovely cool-and-warm contrast with the blue-and-white outfit. In Cosplay photography, backlighting from overhead light was utilized to cast golden halos on hair strands and surrounding leaves, creating a dreamy soft-focus effect. Raising arms while holding a folding fan prop aimed to give the pose a more interactive feel. Shooting fantasy-infused attire relies heavily on interaction between model and environment; given the risk of exposure under intense sunlight, checking wig edges and sash smoothness during breaks was essential.
Beyond overall visuals, sunlight intensity on shooting day was a factor to overcome—the sky near noon was exceptionally bright, requiring patience to find suitable angles among dappled tree shadows. The photographer mastered light control under high-contrast conditions, preserving intricate lace textures on white fabric beautifully. For movements, various arm extension ranges were attempted to express calm composure alongside nimble grace. The fan prop echoed the outfit, placed near the hand as a visual balance point.
Overall, this set achieved high completion; combining Touhou Project character attire with Xianghu natural scenery endowed images with traditional dignity alongside outdoor serenity. As a stylized character recreation, maintaining spirit requires aligning posture, facial expression, and demeanor, ultimately yielding a satisfying summer result.
