Remilia's Kourindou fanon look from Touhou Project is the core theme of my photography project this time. The concept of this look is not just to duplicate the original setting, but to blend it with the atmosphere of Kourindou, where vintage elements and the supernatural coexist. For the costume, I chose a dress with a pure white base, adorned with deep red lace and ribbons at the collar and cuffs. Together with the iconic blue hair, white ruffled mob cap, and the pair of small black bat wings on my back, it visually locks in the character's defining features immediately. We put a lot of thought into the set design to present a Gothic atmosphere. The deep red velvet on the floor creates a strong color contrast with the black backdrop. Combined with off-white Roman columns, scattered skull models, large iron chains, and crosses, the entire frame is filled with the aura of a vampire castle forgotten by time. As for props, the addition of the red spear and a birdcage adds a sense of narrative extension to the static images. During the shoot, this outfit was actually quite challenging. Although it looks fluffy and lightweight, the multiple layers of ruffles and ribbon ties made it inconvenient to move around. Especially for the pose holding the red spear, ensuring the straight line of the spear while maintaining a naturally relaxed body required constantly adjusting my breathing and posture. However, this process of focusing on character details and ultimately capturing the matching spirit through the lens is precisely where the greatest joy of cosplay lies. This time, I specifically chose a local studio in Xiamen. The lighting was processed to be heavy and oppressive, which perfectly fitted Remilia's setting as a vampire. The landscape composition of the final photos also accommodated all the set elements better, giving the overall imagery a cinematic feel. Being able to interpret a Touhou Project character I love in this way is a very fulfilling achievement in itself. I also have a bit of an obsession with the theme 'The Scarlet Devil, Eternally Young,' so instead of the common heavy and vivid makeup style, I tried a clear base makeup paired with red eyes and blue hair to create a charmingly wicked vibe that is slightly distant yet retains a girlish temperament. During the shoot, through hand movements interacting with the props—such as fingertips lightly touching the iron chains or looking down at the red spear in my hands—I tried my best to fit the character's quirky yet arrogant temperament. Although the overall shooting process was tiring, seeing how well the red-and-white outfit blended with the environment made me feel that all the prior preparation was worth it. I hope this attempt allows everyone to see a different style of Remilia, and also feel the dedication poured into this set of costume, makeup, and props.
