[Genshin Impact Cosplay] Lumine and Kamisato Ayaka's Secret Whispers Under the Hydrangeas

This photo set shot together with Lumine cosplay takes the theme of secret conversations in a summer garden. In the world of Genshin Impact, the Traveler always brings all kinds of adventures, but this time it's our turn to step into a real-life sea of hydrangeas for a Hydrangea outdoor location shoot, capturing a tranquil time belonging to two young maidens.

Let's talk about the styling first. I cosplayed Kamisato Ayaka cosplay, choosing her classic blue-and-white dress this time, but to adapt to the garden atmosphere, I specifically paired it with a layered floral wreath—pink, light blue, and white flowers arranged in varied heights, along with blue bows on both sides, making the entire head styling richer in layers. The wig was a light grey gradient style tied into twin braided pigtails; the curvature at the ends was adjusted several times to ensure it remained fluffy and natural from the side. For makeup, strong color blocks weren't used, placing emphasis instead on the pearlescent shimmer of eyeshadow and soft pink lips, so reflections under sunlight make the skin look translucent.

Lumine's look leaned more toward a refreshing white, blue, and gold color scheme. The sleeveless white dress featured dark brown and gold splicing at the waist, with the golden cross motif on her chest and heart-shaped accessory at her side drawing significant attention. The small flower clips on her head and stray hair behind her ears were handled neatly, with her short golden hair producing subtle reflections in sunlight. Special mention goes to her silver armguards; the metallic paint finish received a matte treatment so it wouldn't reflect blinding light, instead echoing wonderfully with the golden trim on her white over-the-knee socks.

The lighting on shooting day was extremely bright—typical midsummer afternoon tree-dappled light. We selected a small courtyard filled with hydrangeas, featuring a bamboo fence on the left and bluestone paving on the ground. Since the light was strong, the photographer used reflectors to soften facial shadows while dialing down background highlights, creating great color separation between the purple-blue hydrangeas and our blue-and-white outfits.

In terms of pose design, we tried several different interaction sets. The first set featured us standing side by side; I held a flower bouquet while Lumine turned slightly sideways, both looking at the camera to create a playful feel of "just finished chatting and suddenly noticed being candidly snapped." The second set had me slightly lowering my head while Lumine turned to look at me—side profile contours suited the scene's ambiance wonderfully. The final set was a full-body standing pose where I held my flower wreath with one hand and a bouquet with the other, while Lumine stood naturally; White stockings cosplay and gold high-heeled boots cast long shadows in the sunlight, an angle fully showcasing both of our leg lines and costume outlines.

During shooting, there were actually quite a few small episodes. For instance, there were many tiny flying insects among the hydrangea bushes, so we had to dodge them while maintaining smiles; also, my flower wreath kept getting blown crooked by the wind, requiring refixing during every break between shoots. But it is precisely these real details that gave the photos more vitality.

Regarding clothing materials, my dress used pearlescent satin, which looks beautiful but easily overexposes under outdoor sunlight, so the photographer deliberately adjusted camera angles to let skirt folds form natural transitions between light and shade. Lumine's white top utilized matte fabric so the overall image wouldn't be overly glaring. The pairing of white stockings and over-the-knee socks was a key chosen element, not only enhancing the character's original elegance, but also making lower body lines look sharper.

Spending nearly three hours in this garden, we shot almost two hundred raw photos, selecting these few in the end. Because it was a dual interaction theme, we had to consider both sync in expression and comfort in standing posture for each of us. Personally, I love the side photo where we look obliquely at each other—that unspoken tacit understanding fits right into the mysterious atmosphere of sharing secrets.

After getting the final photos, I reviewed them repeatedly and felt the lighting, colors, and character demeanors were reproduced quite ideally. This is probably the charm of outdoor cosplay—bringing virtual world characters into authentic natural light, letting 2D outfits and 3D scenes create a magical fusion.
