When shooting this Remilia photoshoot (Remilia cosplay) from Touhou Project, the greatest effort went into crafting the vintage, classical atmosphere. The outfit features a classic pink-white-red palette with expansive white lace and pink ruffled frills, richly layered from the mob cap to the skirt hem. I spent considerable time smoothing out the garments beforehand, as this Lolita style easily wrinkles and requires careful steaming and pinning to project that doll-like refinement.
Regarding makeup, to align with the character's traits, I wore crimson contact lenses paired with deep eyeliner, making my gaze look more focused and profound before the camera. I also carefully trimmed the bangs on the blue wig to ensure a clean, perfect arc at all times. The key light source on set was warm yellow, and the background relied heavily on vintage clocks and picture frames; this warm-and-cool contrast made the pink garments pop with three-dimensional depth against the dark background. The antique clocks were specially prepared props with hands frozen at varying positions, creating an illusion of arrested time when standing among them, which perfectly suited the dark fairy-tale ambiance of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
Photo one is a close-up: I folded my hands before my face, conveying a sense of dominion and control through outstretched fingertips and a direct gaze. This posture demands pristine nail grooming and graceful hand gestures; to ensure my fingers looked long and natural on camera, I tested several angles before finding the most comfortable pose. Photo two captures a crouching posture, gently tilting my head downward amid warm yellow bokeh orbs, evoking quiet, restrained composure. Because the skirt hem is so voluminous, crouching required meticulous care to keep the lace from bunching and ensure the red bow stayed perfectly centered.
Photo three features a dramatic high-angle overhead shot where I reclined against a backdrop covered in vintage clocks, with my legs crossed naturally. This pose showcased the skirt's full volume as well as the ankle lines with White stockings and red high heels, making it one of my favorite compositions. This angle tested bodily coordination—keeping body lines relaxed while visually elongating leg proportions. Photographing such fantasy-themed styling demands mastery of posture tension. Maintaining elegance before the camera is essential, especially when crouching or reclining, where the slightest slouch can collapse the garment's silhouette.
After final touch-ups, I communicated camera angles with the photographer to ensure the skirt spread naturally. Although holding these poses was physically demanding, the final texture matched my envisioned state of quiet serenity with a hint of enigmatic distance. The shoot spanned several hours, during which we repeatedly shifted positions to find optimal backlighting angles and sharp focus.
