Today I am sharing this set of Ciel-sensei cosplay photos. This styling represents Ciel-sensei from Teach me, Ciel-sensei! To faithfully capture that intellectual yet subtly enigmatic demeanor, I dedicated substantial effort to the hair, makeup, and wardrobe.
First, regarding the wig: to match the bright blue short hair of the original design, I prepared a cool-toned blue wig. When cutting it, I paid special attention to the thickness of the blunt bangs; if trimmed too thick, it looks stiff and clumsy, but if cut too thin, it loses that clean silhouette. I thinned and layered it by hand, ensuring that while the lower fringe remained neat and straight, it retained an airy, organic texture. Before shooting, I smoothed it over lightly with a flat iron to prevent excessive synthetic shine. The crown was fluffed slightly to give the head shape a fuller, rounded contour.
The eye makeup was the central highlight of the look. To harmonize with the blue eyes, I applied a cool-toned pink-purple base eyeshadow, defining the aegyo sal (tear troughs) to lend an innocent, approachable warmth to the gaze. The lower eyeliner was drawn slightly outward to make the eyes appear rounder. Lashes were curled and coated for crisp separation, accented with a touch of white highlight at the outer corners to keep the eyes looking crystal clear. For blush, I dusted a generous wash of soft pink across the center of the face, sweeping a hint across the tip of the nose and chin to enhance dimensional structure. The lips were finished with a glossy pink-coral tint to create a dewy, hydrated appearance that blended seamlessly with the overall palette.
For the wardrobe, I paired the look with a black and white shirt featuring bold color blocking. The oversized white lapel collar created an impactful visual frame, while the black body crisply tapered the silhouette. The fabric held a structured crispness, avoiding any limpness on body. While posing, I lightly rested my fingers along the edge of the white collar—a gesture that guided the viewer's gaze and concentrated visual balance on the contrast between the face and neckline. Framed as a half-body close-up, the composition naturally drew full attention to the upper body.
We chose an indoor setting for the shoot. The background featured a brown wood-grain door alongside everyday items like a woven wicker basket and a white bucket; this lived-in, everyday backdrop softened the scene, keeping the aesthetic from feeling overly sterile. For lighting, I placed a softbox in front and angled slightly upward. This cast an even illumination across the face with virtually no harsh shadows, rendering the skin texture exquisitely soft and refined. To define contours, a faint rim light was placed to the rear flank, subtly illuminating the edges of the blue hair.
Regarding Ciel-sensei as a character, despite the enthusiastic call of 'Teach me, Ciel-sensei!' in the title, I opted against exaggerated, dynamic gestures, choosing instead a calm, direct gaze into the lens that placed all emotion into subtle micro-expressions and the eyes. The blunt bangs grazed the eyebrows, ensuring the focal point landed squarely on the blue eyes. After exploring several postures, I selected this shot of fingertips gently touching the shirt collar, as this unforced, poised composure best reflected the mysterious yet endlessly patient mentor in my heart.
The entire process from makeup application to wrap took several hours, with most of the time devoted to refining the wig's edges and eye makeup nuances. I am personally very satisfied with the final result.
