The Yinlingchun skin for Yang Yuhuan integrates many traditional and modern elements in its design, especially that highly restored Pipa prop. To reflect the skin's texture, the costume mainly uses a patchwork of deep purple and metallic silver, particularly the large area of silver laser fabric on the waist and abdomen, which displays very obvious color changes under the soft light of the studio. The collar of the top features a rainbow-colored holographic material, serving as an excellent embellishment. For the hairstyle, the silvery-white wig paired with purple pupils is left to hang down smoothly without too much styling decoration, making the character's temperament appear even cooler and more aloof.
During the shoot, we prepared a small wooden tea table and a celadon vase filled with pink flower branches. This classical Chinese-style setting can perfectly highlight the character's own Chinese-style cosplay attributes while preventing the frame from looking monotonous with just a pure white studio background. The body of the Pipa prop features circular reliefs and sharp corner designs; when holding it in my arms, I had to adjust the angle carefully to avoid blocking too much light from my face.
To showcase the character's soft and graceful posture, I tried different sitting poses. The first picture is a basic front-facing sitting pose, highlighting the facial expression and instrument details. The second picture is a side-sitting pose with straight legs, using the metal decorations on the legs to elongate the visual proportions; the overall composition is quite relaxed, and the person is exactly in the center of the frame without any edge cutoff issues. The third picture is a lying pose with the legs raised upward; although it shows the leg lines and foot ribbons, the angle is slightly skewed, feeling less natural than the second picture. Moreover, since it is a barefoot look, there is a high demand for uniform skin tone on the feet during makeup application.
Kudos to the post-production team; the flowing feel of the hair strands was processed very naturally without any stiff cutout traces. The most important thing to watch out for during the shoot was the metal decorations on the clothes. Some spots are quite sharp, and coupled with large movements, they could easily scratch the props or the clothes. In addition, the strings on the Pipa are extremely thin, so when holding it, one must not only keep their hand strength steady but also take care to protect it.
This is a look I fell in love with at first sight because its color saturation is very high but not cliché. The purplish tone paired with those sparkling facets presents a very strong three-dimensional sense in front of the camera. The barefoot setting actually adds a bit of a rustic female warrior vibe. Compared to fully heavy-armored looks, the actual shooting burden for this character isn't heavy, but the difficulty lies in how to present dynamic beauty within static poses. I personally really like the compositional logic of the third picture we shot, but for the display post, I chose the side-sitting one as the cover. Not only are the leg lines displayed better, but the wooden table and flower branches on both sides of the frame also play a great balancing role. As for the title "Song of the Pipa" (Pipa Xing), it pays homage to the classical artistic conception of "holding the Pipa to half-hide the face," hoping that friends who see the official photos can feel the unique charm of this skin and the artistic atmosphere inherent in the character herself. The entire shooting process was very smooth, and the seamless cooperation between the lighting technician and the photographer perfectly showcased all the details of the costume, makeup, and props.
