[Janus cosplay] Azur Lane Royal Navy Destroyer: Special Presentation for Popularity Poll Sprint

Today marks the final day of the Azur Lane Popularity Poll for Janus, with voting time running out fast. As a J-class destroyer Shipgirl belonging to the Royal Navy, receiving so much attention from Commanders in this poll is deeply meaningful in itself. To catch this final crucial moment, I specifically arranged this cosplay shoot, hoping to show my support while embodying the character as closely as possible.

Recreating the makeup focused primarily on capturing the character's obedient and well-behaved demeanor. The base makeup was kept clean and translucent, paired with strikingly bright cyan contact lenses and subtle eye-enlarging techniques to create that slightly nervous yet earnest expression from the original artwork. The pale blue wig was trimmed with blunt bangs and side braids, with considerable effort spent securing the white ribbon and ornate hairpiece embellished with pearls and gold accents on top, ensuring it stayed flawless from every angle and complete in overall styling.

In terms of attire, this heavy-craft white lace gown is the true soul of this photoshoot. The layered frills at the neckline and the delicate metallic butterfly ornament on the chest strike a harmonious balance between sweetness and opulence. The golden anchor pendant hanging from the choker is a prominent symbol of her Royal Navy destroyer Shipgirl identity, commanding strong visual focus. The red ribbon at the waist not only cinches the silhouette, but also brightens the expansive white fabric, echoing the airy lightness of the original design. With multiple layers and a softly voluminous skirt, putting it on and moving around took considerable physical effort, but it was all worth it to achieve that flowing, fluttering texture.

The prop in hand is a crescent-shaped scepter, an iconic accessory of this character. Featuring a curved gold frame inlaid with a silver orb, adorned at the top with pale blue blossoms and red ribbons, I was very pleased with both its fidelity and substantial weight. When taking selfies with it, I pushed the wide lantern sleeves toward the camera lens to create a natural frame through foreground occlusion—a casual gesture that aligned wonderfully with the shy yet eager-to-please atmosphere of the original illustration.

Because this was shot in an indoor setting, we couldn't replicate the grandiose artwork backdrop with holy radiance and fluttering white doves. However, I personally feel this grounded, true-to-life perspective better reflects her intimacy as a destroyer Shipgirl who wants to stay by the Commander's side at all times. She often calls herself ordinary, yet in the port she works tirelessly and often gets overly anxious. This earnest, endearing personality—always striving to prove herself—is precisely why I chose to present this Janus cosplay styling at this final hour of the poll.

In caring for the costume details, the lace and pearl embellishments required extra caution to prevent snagging during changes. The wig was brushed and set repeatedly so the bangs and side braids maintained natural curvature. Since the scepter carries noticeable weight, holding it naturally with one hand without appearing stiff posed quite a test for wrist endurance. In terms of fidelity, this costume accurately captured the character's core traits; the classic red-white-gold color scheme and extensive use of lace rendered her looking exquisite and gentle.

The essence of rallying votes in the Popularity Poll is helping everyone see the character's shining charm. Watching her stand quietly in a white gown holding her crescent scepter is a deeply healing sight in itself. Regardless of final rankings, being able to complete this shoot and present this Janus cosplay during the closing stage of the poll makes this Roleplay journey truly complete and fulfilling.
