[Xiao Qiao Cosplay] Honor of Kings: Xiao Qiao the Great Is Just This Adorable

The finished cosplay photos for Xiao Qiao from Honor of Kings are finally here! Preparations spanned over a month—from custom-tailoring the outfit to location scouting—and while the journey had its share of twists and turns, seeing the final deliverables makes every ounce of effort completely worthwhile.

Let's start with the styling concept. Xiao Qiao's canonical design centers on spirited agility and cuteness, so visually I chose a sweet yet spunky modified silhouette. The wig is bright neon pink styled into two fluffy twin odango buns; to elevate the anime aesthetic, I pinned over a dozen small pink floral accessories across the buns and locks, giving the head silhouette a plump, dimensional profile. For makeup, magenta-red contact lenses matched her in-game iris tone, complemented by a broad wash of pink eyeshadow, prominent under-eye blush accented with shimmering glitter, and glossy pink lips to project radiant maiden vitality. The outfit combines a modified pink-and-white qipao bodice with an airy tutu skirt, retaining classical Chinese mandarin collars and frog closures while incorporating cascading white lace tiers and dramatic volume in the hemline, finished with sweeping back streamers. To enrich the composition, pearl chains and feather accents were added.

The shooting location was set in a scenic park featuring vintage streetcars and a traditional multi-tier Chinese pagoda tower. During pre-shoot scouting, I realized that bright midday sun made the pink pop intensely against architectural textures, whereas evening dusk and night lighting with red lanterns bathed the tower in rich, warm spatial layers. Props included two fans: a massive red-and-white floral folding fan, and a delicate paper parasol trimmed with pink flowers. The folding fan not only diversified the framing but also served as a dynamic tool to guide viewer sightlines.

This production was shot entirely on an A7R6 body paired with 28-70mm GM and 50-150mm GM lenses. The 50-150mm GM served as the primary workhorse during the day; its focal range felt effortless for half-body and full-body portraits in a scenic park, compressing the pagoda into the background while neatly framing out crowds. The 28-70mm GM was reserved for wide environmental frames and street details, particularly dynamic walking snaps beside the vintage tram where wide-angle perspective distortion looked fantastic. The A7R6's autofocus gave immense confidence when freezing fast motion—especially during single-leg balances, leaps, and spinning turns, where Eye AF locked stubbornly onto the eyes with virtually zero missed focus across bursts.

In terms of posing, Xiao Qiao is naturally buoyant, so I let loose in front of the lens: reclining sideways along a park bench to highlight leg lines, perching on railings with legs dangling freely, or striking a spirited single-leg pose while unfurling the massive fan with both hands. White calf Stockings cosplay paired with chunky platform pink block heels elongated leg contours while anchoring the outfit's visual weight so it didn't feel overly floaty. We intentionally explored diverse angles, utilizing low-angle perspectives looking up into the giant fan to add visual drama and compositional tension.

Shooting on location is physically taxing—going from daylight straight through to the evening lanterns with heavy garments and props—yet seeing the resulting frames, particularly the dynamic light and shadow shifts at golden hour, made everything feel deeply rewarding.

All in all, this set captured that unique blend of cuteness and spirited spunk that defines Xiao Qiao the Great. Bringing a beloved character to life in one's own signature way is genuinely the most joyful experience of Anime cosplay.
