Attending the Honkai: Star Rail collaboration event with Ugreen in Akihabara this time, I (Tsukimi Tsukune) finally shot this official photoshoot for Yao Guang cosplay (Honkai: Star Rail cosplay). When I first got my hands on the costume, my immediate reaction was just how immense the amount of detail was. The entire outfit is anchored in white and light blue, while the petal-shaped ornaments around the waist feature a deep-blue to light-blue gradient fabric bordered with crisp black piping, and the sapphire gemstone in the center sparkles with an extraordinarily beautiful luster under the lights.

For hair and makeup, to capture Yao Guang's aloof yet spirited aura, I deliberately chose light-blue colored contacts. The eye makeup wasn't applied too heavily, primarily emphasizing eyelashes and a subtle upward flick at the outer corners, paired with a broad sweep of pink blush and soft-pink lip tint to soften facial features. The hair is silver-white with a slight pale-blue gradient at the tips, and the feather hair ornament on the left side achieves striking dimensional depth through the clash of black, blue, and silver.

The most complex part of dressing was coordinating the upper body's various accessories. At the neckline of the white halter top, a cluster of red-and-pink tassels sways gently with each movement. The silver metallic necklace and pendant across the chest carry substantial weight; adjusting their length while dressing was necessary to ensure the diamond-shaped sapphire rested in the exact right spot. The deep-blue faux fur shawl draped over my left arm visually elevated the regal elegance, though during shooting I had to be vigilant so it wouldn't obscure my shoulder line.

In terms of posing, for the first photo I chose to reach a hand toward the camera. This pose not only showcases the blue extended nails completely, but also allows the silver rings between my fingers to glisten in the light. To support this motion, I engaged my core and leaned slightly forward, enabling the butterfly-winged blue-and-black waist ornament to pop with dimensional clarity. For the second photo, I folded my hands across my chest with my head gently tilted, creating a crisp contrast between the silver metallic wrist cuffs and white gloves, lending an overall restrained elegance to the posture.

The on-site atmosphere of this Akihabara collaboration was absolutely fantastic. Even though moving around in this outfit required extra vigilance that day—especially with the rigid waist embellishments, where sitting down and standing up had to be done slowly to avoid crushing the shapes—connecting with fellow fans, sharing love for the game Honkai: Star Rail, and receiving their compliments on the intricate costume details made every bit of hardship worthwhile.

In fact, whenever doing a cosplay with so many intricate accessories, extensive preliminary preparation is always required. For instance, wig styling requires repeatedly refining the curvature of the sideburns with hairspray to ensure a natural look on camera. Since silver metallic ornaments catch glare easily, I communicated continuously with the photographer to adjust lighting angles, utilizing soft light to brighten my face while preserving metallic luster. Long decorative nails look gorgeous, yet they admittedly make changing clothes and handling props cumbersome, requiring slow, meticulous care every step of the way.

The fabric textures of this costume display rich weave under the lights, with the light-blue skirt featuring natural pleating that billows gently as I walk. The overall palette is exceptionally harmonious without distracting extraneous colors. With every shutter click, I hoped to channel that distinctive presence innate to Yao Guang—not merely achieving surface resemblance, but conveying her inner temperament through eye contact and body language. I am deeply pleased with today's shoot results; the styling details harmonized impeccably with the venue's ambiance.
