What I am sharing this time is a set of Si Xiaonan cosplay works, just in time for Slay The Gods Season 2 and the Creator Incentive Program. The shooting location was in the studio shoot area of the comic convention venue. For these convention photos, the lighting inside the venue was actually quite harsh, so I specifically adjusted the details in my makeup and styling to make it more casual and durable, rather than intentionally choosing an overly heavy style. The red and white color-blocked sports jacket paired with a black and white striped inner top, plus a black short skirt, looks highly structured when worn, beautifully reflecting the character's sporty and capable vibe in this cosplay outfit.
Special mention must be made of the double buns. When styling, to make the buns on both sides look fluffy and layered, I reinforced the hair accessories and hair ties. Especially when paired with the iconic black-rimmed glasses, I adjusted the angle of the lenses to avoid reflections, which allowed for a visual effect that is cool yet carries a bit of a student vibe. The legs were paired with white slouch socks and black platform leather shoes. This design not only elongates the proportions of the lower body, but the swaying movement of the socks when walking also adds a sense of storytelling to the frame.
During the shoot, I intentionally made distinctions between several sets of actions. Picture 1 is a sitting pose taken in front of a pure black background, with hands deliberately behind my back and my gaze looking straight into the lens; the lighting for this set highlights the three-dimensionality of the face and facial contours even more. Pictures 2 and 3 utilize the ambient light of the venue. When shooting the gun-holding pose in Picture 3, special attention was needed for the extension angle of the arms and the direction of the firearm in the frame. Controlling the strength is very important to showcase Si Xiaonan's characteristic trait of calmness mixed with resoluteness.
Participating in the "I Create Slay The Gods in Summer" event this time was also an opportunity to express my understanding and love for this character. To portray this anime girl character, cosplay is not just about the restoration of the outfit; more importantly, it is the coordination of eyes and body. Compared to an over-edited dreamy feel, I prefer to retain this authentic texture in the photos so everyone can see a vivid Si Xiaonan. I hope that through these live photos with different compositions, I can bring some creative inspiration to friends who like this character and this work, and it also serves as a great personal experience in my cosplay performance.
