[Ye Shunguang Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Convention Daily Life of Junior Sister and Senior Brother - Image 2

Finally debuting at CP32! Teaming up with senior brother @隅田川千寺, we cosplayed Zenless Zone Zero's Ye Shunguang (Junior Sister) and Ye Shiyuan (Senior Brother). To keep Junior Sister's styling in peak condition throughout the bustling convention, significant effort was poured into hair and makeup. The red contact lenses were chosen for high color payoff with smooth rim transitions; paired with reddish-toned eyeshadow and sharp winged eyeliner, they strived to capture that cool, detached yet fiercely badass aura. The wig underwent meticulous layering, with the straight bangs neatly smoothed down using styling wax, and the position of the red-and-white bow hairpiece was calibrated through repeated trial fittings.

The costume boasts an astonishing amount of detail: a black-and-yellow contrasting Chinese mandarin-collar design, complemented by white frog closures and fine embroidered patterns that carry premium texture, alongside white shoulder straps evoking a sharp mechanical vibe. To showcase Zenless Zone Zero's signature techwear aesthetic, we specifically chose fabrics with a refined luster. Senior brother's gear was even more intricate: the mechanical arm bracers and waist metallic accessories were all crafted from genuine rigid materials, carrying considerable weight when worn for long periods at the venue. The long red ribbon in his hand served as the crowning touch—in the first photo, we intentionally had him hold it aloft, capturing gorgeous lens flare under backlight.

The sunlight was exceptional that day, allowing us to capture several very satisfying close-ups during the outdoor shoot. The second photo clearly reveals the fine details of Junior Sister's face—including the mole at the base of the neck, which I made sure to dot on. While walking around the venue, shifting ambient light posed quite a test for red-toned makeup, but thankfully the setting foundation was solid, requiring only quick touch-ups to blot shine around the nose and forehead. Acting alongside senior brother felt naturally engaging; his stern, aloof makeup and elongated brow line brought out an instantly imposing presence the moment he stood beside me.

Cosplaying characters that blend techwear with traditional Chinese elements is notoriously tricky when it comes to preserving garment silhouette. While sleeveless cuts look striking, they easily distort during movement. Wearing an ultra-breathable invisible base layer underneath prevented the fabric from sticking to my skin from sweat without compromising the character's crisp, capable silhouette. The wig held up gracefully under harsh outdoor sunlight without that cheap, excessive glare, which was a huge relief. In post-production, I only subtly fine-tuned the overall lighting and warm-cool contrast to preserve the natural translucency of the raw frames, deliberately avoiding over-smoothing to keep authentic skin texture intact.

Taking photos with fellow fans on site was heart-warming, and meeting so many players who share a passion for Zenless Zone Zero sparked wonderful discussions about lore and character interpretations. Prepping this outfit and props took considerable time—from material sourcing and sewing to refining the makeup design, every step was pursued relentlessly. The convention experience was intensely fulfilling; hauling heavy gear around was definitely an athletic workout, but the moment those satisfying frames lit up the screen, every bit of fatigue vanished. As we packed up and dismantled the mechanical bracers into storage cases, I was already contemplating how to push the execution even further next time.
