[Iochi Mari Cosplay] Blue Archive, Pious Love Under the Pure White Oath

The idea of shooting this Pure White Oath outfit had been brewing for a long time before finally coming to fruition—truly a labor of love that was a long time in the making. From initial prep to execution, this project went through multiple rejections and fresh starts, so holding the final rendered photos in hand brings an indescribable, rewarding sense of fulfillment.

First, let's talk about the hair and makeup polishing. To perfectly fit Iochi Mari's image from Blue Archive, we gave the orange wig meticulous care. Beyond preserving her signature straight blunt bangs, we styled the hair at the back into an updo and braided the prominent side braid. Aiming for the best visual effect, the hair parting lines and seam joints were handled cleanly, seamlessly integrating with the gradient brown-and-yellow animal ears on top. For eye makeup, I intentionally emphasized the lower eyeshadow, combined with grey-blue contact lenses, striving to evoke a delicate, doll-like \"BJD\" aesthetic that feels both precise and fragile.

The outfit is a white-and-purple light wedding dress style, featuring rich visual layering from the lace neckline down to the flowing white chiffon skirt. The pure white thigh-high stockings serve as a key visual anchor; amid the white and light purple color blocks, the stocking material and light reflections beautifully outline the figure's silhouette. For the bridal bouquet in hand, I specifically chose white roses mixed with blue-and-white artificial foliage to harmonize with the surrounding sea of pure white flowers.

Setting up the scene on the shooting day was quite challenging because an all-white set easily becomes overexposed or washed out to grey, putting immense pressure on the gaffer. In the studio, we set up a gorgeous vintage white chair backed by stained glass windows and a starburst background light. During the shoot, we positioned the main light source behind and to the side of the subject; combining this rim backlighting with a softbox allowed the edges of the white veil and wig to glow with a soft contour light, generating a holy, breathing quality visually.

To align with the \"Pure White Oath\" concept, we arranged a massive display of artificial white flowers stacked beside the seat, leaving deliberate negative space even among the floral clusters on the floor. This setup required precise angles from the photographer—avoiding a bland, pale frame while highlighting skin tones through subtle warm-and-cool lighting contrast. I recall during full-body shots, wearing this voluminous skirt while climbing onto the elevated chair and tweaking angles required adjusting dozens of times to keep the fabric smooth and posture natural.

This set represents one of my most prized personal creative endeavors over the past half year. Character filters aside, intense static posing coordinated with precise Cosplay photography lighting truly tests the limits of patience and physical endurance. Despite minor hiccups along the way, the final render's atmosphere—pious yet edged with a fragile delicate touch—successfully expressed my understanding of her character and theme. That, perhaps, is the true meaning of refining every detail.
