This dark devil-style Hatsune Miku look had a lot of effort put into details from wig to costume. Special thanks this time to Yukiko-sensei's Yorozuya for providing the location; this dress-up self-photo studio located in Jilin is really fantastic to shoot in. The dark background wall paired with black decor creates a powerful visual contrast against the teal-blue twin-tail hairstyle, yielding a super high hit rate for great photos.
The overall makeup and styling this time were entirely handled by Chu Li-sensei. The makeup was clean and sharp; the eye makeup intentionally deepened contours, paired with teal-blue contact lenses and berry-colored lip glaze to recreate that cool, glamorous yet slightly playful vibe. The wig part was handcrafted by Jinse-sensei; the hair volume of the twin-tail hairstyle was exceptionally solid, and the patent leather devil horns on top were secured very sturdily without loosening all day. The combination of plaid cloth strips and bows also enriched the head styling layers.
For costume design, a black-and-white color scheme was pieced together. The upper body features a white shirt with a teal-blue bow tie, covered by a patent leather corset with star decorations and metal rings, yielding fantastic reflective texture that works amazingly under flashlights. The lower body's black-and-gray plaid multi-layered skirt drapes in layers, paired with thin black stockings and leather leg straps, topped off with blue-and-black color-blocked lace-up platform boots that immediately pull the visual focus down to the leg line. The trident prop and small black patent leather wings on the back were also huge pluses, executing the dark devil theme thoroughly for this Dark Gothic style cosplay.
During shooting, photographer B-kun mastered lighting and angles with great expertise. Directing strong flashlights directly onto the subject, he captured beautiful highlights on the patent leather and plastic materials while utilizing the dark background to make the subject pop. Among these final photos are lying, standing, and exaggerated low-angle perspective shots—especially that composition sitting on the bed edge with a leg lift, where wide-angle extended leg proportions, leaving metal buckles on boots and stocking textures fully visible, perfectly matching the cool, impactful visual punch aimed for in this Self-photo studio portrait.
The entire venue arrangement was also very thoughtful. Beyond the dark background, several teal-blue plush dolls and a neon pink floor mat were placed; color echoes plus accentuation kept the framing from feeling lifeless. As a self-photo studio, every corner could be utilized. We shot various pose combinations, from lazy lying close-ups to full-body shots holding the trident, basically showcasing every feature of the costume and props. The wig stylist's care, makeup artist's meticulousness, photographer's composition, plus venue compatibility all contributed to this high-completeness piece of Cosplay sharing. Although preparation was tedious, seeing the final images made everything feel completely worth it. Looking forward to trying other styles at this studio next time for more fun creations.
