For this Wuthering Waves styling at the Zhengzhou anime convention (Zhengzhou ZCZ Anime & Gaming Carnival), I prepared two distinctly styled outfits, pouring extensive thought into the fabric selection and accessories for each. The first pink-and-white ensemble featured a top tailored from high-gloss reflective material, creating strong specular highlights under convention lighting that packed immense visual impact. To harmonize with the garment's luster, I accessorized with a pearl necklace and a pink bow collar accent. On the makeup front, to counter the visual expansion of the glossy textile, eye makeup was drawn slightly bolder and paired with light hazel-brown contacts to lock in focused ocular intensity. The blue marine creature tattoo decal on the chest and the pearl armlet on the right arm further enriched the styling details. When taking self-portraits, angling the body slightly and lightly touching the collar cleanly highlighted the V-neck cut and clavicle lines.

The second ensemble pivoted to an entirely different vibe, leaning into vintage tailoring and uniform aesthetics. A white wide-brimmed straw hat was adorned with black satin ribbons, violet cords, and miniature blue crosses. To match this composed palette, I donned a medium-length blonde wig paired with violet contact lenses. The shoulders and collar utilized broad black and blue color-blocking framed by golden thread embroidery. This multi-paneled structure severely tests garment tailoring, yet the costume struck an ideal balance between crisp structure and fluid drape, retaining crisp shoulder lines even during chin-resting selfie poses where arms bend tightly.

The convention floor was naturally bustling, and the venue lighting was fairly intricate. Whether taking phone selfies or working with photographers, swiftly identifying optimal lighting angles was crucial. For example, while shooting the glossy textile outfit, I intentionally scouted side-rim lighting positions to sculpt gleaming edge highlights along the fabric; for the straw hat styling, I sought diffuse top lighting to keep the wide brim from casting heavy shadows across the face. Enthusiastic photographers on site with telephoto rigs coordinated effortlessly during every take.

For cosplay, wig styling often dictates the final level of fidelity. The pink wig required airy volume when trimming the bangs to prevent them from clinging flat against the forehead, whereas the blonde wig needed subtle curling at the tips to flow with the brim of the straw hat. Contact lenses were matched precisely to makeup tones: light hazel for softness, and violet for enigmatic allure.

Spending the entire day switching outfits and touching up makeup was physically exhausting, but seeing these meticulously assembled details come alive under the strobes and exchanging tailoring insights with fellow fans made the experience thoroughly rewarding. Whether sourcing specialty fabrics or layering nuanced accessories, bringing a character into three-dimensional reality remains the ultimate joy of on-site convention shooting.
