[Eriri Cosplay] Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, A Spring Convention Cruise

The spring session of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo brought a just-right warmth in the air, making it perfect weather for outdoor shoots and attending conventions. The character I chose to cosplay this time is Eriri Spencer Sawamura from Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend. After getting my gear ready before departure, I headed to this convention feast.

Speaking of the costume details, this everyday school uniform of Eriri heavily tests accuracy. The upper body features a classic white long-sleeved shirt paired with a blue-and-white striped sailor collar, layered with a navy blue sleeveless knit vest on the outside. This color is highly skin-brightening and visually cinches the waist, making the overall proportions look more slender. The red crossed ribbon bow at the neckline is the finishing touch, and the small golden button in the center adds to the uniform's refinement without looking too plain. The lower body is paired with a matching navy blue pleated short skirt. The skirt hem length is just right, and combined with black over-the-knee socks and brown loafers, it completes a classic Japanese school-style outfit. The fabric of the clothes absorbs light well under the sun, avoiding any cheap reflections.

In terms of makeup and hair, to restore Eriri's blonde twin-tails setting, a light golden wig was chosen. I adjusted the thickness and curvature of the straight bangs to ensure they wouldn't block my sight while walking, while presenting the character's specific well-behaved look. The large black bow hair accessories on both sides needed to be fixed at the roots of the ponytails, so no matter how I turned or tilted my head, the black bows could maintain a three-dimensional shape, perfectly capturing the character's iconic appearance. The large black-framed glasses are also the absolute core of this look; wearing them not only beautifully frames the face shape but also accentuates the character's tsundere and slightly childish vibe.

When shooting at the convention venue, because the foot traffic was massive, the background inevitably had many cluttered elements. Therefore, the photographer used a large-aperture lens throughout, fully blurring out the background crowds and the towering glass curtain walls to make the subject completely stand out from the environment. The natural light hitting my face was very soft, with no harsh shadows, giving the full set of photos a refreshing spring texture. To make the image in front of the lens more expressive, I tried doing some small movements. For instance, standing on one leg can stretch the leg lines, making the combination of over-the-knee socks and the pleated skirt look more energetic. Adjusting the glasses frame or gently sticking out my tongue captured Eriri's tsundere yet slightly playful personality traits.

As Convention photos for the convention cruise season, being able to interact with everyone at the Guangzhou Anime Convention scene and take photos that satisfy myself is actually a very fulfilling thing. Although standing all day was indeed a bit exhausting, the lighting and atmosphere were superb, and the photographer timely captured these natural moments. This spring outfit, whether in terms of color coordination or styling details, performed even better in the photos than imagined. I hope this sorted batch of Convention photos can truly convey the unique vividness of this character.
