This Perona (Ghost Princess) cosplay from One Piece was established with a Dark fairy tale visual aesthetic. For hair and makeup, a pale base was paired with pronounced downturned eyeliner and black under-eye lower lash lines to evoke a ghostly presence. To highlight her cheeky yet adorable personality, the eyebrows were drawn softer rather than sharp, combined with blush placement to achieve a doll-like porcelain sheen.
The pink wig was styled into voluminous twintails with thick, heavy bangs partially shading the brow. The striped mini top hat was structured with internal wire for stability; because the headpiece was relatively heavy, it required frequent readjustment to stay upright. The red-and-white cape was lined with white plush trim that easily flattened, so we fluffed it with a garment steamer prior to shooting to maintain a crisp silhouette. The oversized pink chest bow was crafted from rigid, structured fabric to resist drooping. The red-and-white striped gloves were extended past the wrists with sawtooth scalloped cuffs. On the lower half, the black-and-white striped stockings reached well above the knees, which, paired with the low-rise white shorts, lengthened the visual leg lines.
The teddy bear prop cradled in my arms was a crucial detail. Sporting a blue-and-white striped sailor cap and scarf, the bear was designed with slightly vacant eyes and a round button nose, perfectly complementing Perona's haughty, teasing demeanor.
For lighting, a warm orange rim light was cast onto the back wall to create soft ambient spots, crafting a dim and mysterious background. A side light fitted with a red gel sculpted subtle warmth across the skin contours, while a cool white reflector in front filled in highlights to ensure the face's ghostly paleness was not washed out by the warm tones. Poses harmonized with this moody lighting—tilting the head slightly, casting sidelong glances into the lens, or gazing down at my fingers. For close-ups, unfocusing the gaze slightly created that vacant, detached, playfully wicked expression.
Maintaining these poses required engaging my core throughout to keep the back straight while crossing legs in frame to guide the eye diagonally along the striped stockings. The doll-like finish and intricate layers required meticulous attention to symmetry—checking whether the plush collar sat evenly or if the pink bow tilted. Because the costume features high color saturation against a dark backdrop, the vivid contrast perfectly amplified this Dark fairy tale anime aesthetic, delivering a whimsical and delightfully cheeky final work.
