This set of cosplay photo sharing is actually old photos shot a while ago, and I took advantage of my free time to redo the post-processing adjustments. In daily convention photos or outdoor shoots, the lighting and color temperature of the raw images often don't fully meet expectations, so digging out these negatives to re-edit them can make the image texture cleaner and more transparent while restoring the character's inherent temperament.
For this shoot, I tried some relatively brisk movements. Reviewing the raw photos, I found that the few frames holding a milk bottle or a prop gun carry a strong sense of life, mainly focusing on a casual and adorable vibe. Regarding the costume, it mainly restores the white cardigan with a black-bordered sailor collar; this classic student outfit itself inherently comes with strong 2D daily life attributes. The red bow tie at the neckline is a prominent color accent, preventing the white top from looking too bland, making the overall color collision highly vivid and easier to coordinate with the ambient lighting.
A lot of thought went into handling the wig this time. The long pink hair is the character's iconic feature; the volume on both sides was made very fluffy, and the halo prop on top of the head is also an exclusive visual focus. To ensure the coordination of the overall styling, the makeup wasn't too heavy, mainly emphasizing the pink-brown tones of the eye makeup and the under-eye blush. This fits better with the character's slightly lazy and spacing-out look, and paired with a clean, large area of blank background, the person's entire aura is beautifully established.
During the shoot, we actually found a well-lit indoor corridor with a large glass curtain wall, allowing natural light to fully diffuse down and form an excellent soft-light environment. This kind of high-light, whitish, and transparent environment heavily tests post-processing skills; if the exposure is suppressed too heavily, the frame will look dirty, but overexposure easily loses the texture details of the clothes. Therefore, the focus of re-editing the old photos this time was placed on controlling highlights while raising shadows to reduce overall contrast, fostering a dreamlike and hazy beauty.
In terms of action design, my idea was not to pose too rigidly but to try and snapshot natural moments. For example, when holding a white milk bottle with one hand or gesturing while holding the gun, the gaze coordinates with the movement, presenting a contrast of 'I am aiming seriously, but I am actually spacing out.' Compared to rigid forced posing, this adorable and relaxed feel can better embody the character's inherent personality traits and make viewers feel a sense of closeness.
Although it is a re-edit of old photos, seeing the final finished photos come out still brought a great surprise. Post-processing adjustments are not just about fixing blemishes, but more of a process of rediscovering the merits of the raw photos. The overall atmosphere of this photo set is very bright and soft, with colors mainly consisting of white, pink, black, and red, which is not only clean but also carries a strong daily feel. I hope everyone also enjoys this type of cosplay work with a slightly casual, everyday style.
