[Sun Shangxiang cosplay] Honor of Kings Time's Lover's cold light capture

This set of Time's Lover photos is finally completed. As a convention photo shoot that focuses heavily on atmosphere, from planning to execution, we tried to get close to the slightly fateful setting of "finding you amidst countless fragments."

First, let's talk about the styling. At first glance, the most eye-catching part of this outfit is the bright yellow duffle trench coat. In actual shooting, this saturation of yellow is not easy to handle and can easily appear dull due to insufficient light. To highlight its texture, the photographer intentionally used rim lighting to outline the edges and brighten the entire outline of the jacket, a detail that adds a lot of points after photography. The inner black-and-white striped knitted cardigan is another highlight; the shirt collar, bow tie, and the thick black-and-white striped scarf around the neck progress layer by layer, making the overall styling visually very rich.

The lower garment pairing is one of the key eye-catching points of the entire set of photos. The combination of the red and black plaid short skirt and white over-the-knee stockings is a classic preppy element, but used here it doesn't look overly sweet; instead, because of those white stockings with black lines and the thick black Martin boots, it adds a sense of sharpness and capability. When shooting sitting poses and full-body standing poses, the slender leg lines paired with the tough feel of the Martin boots give the character's body language more power, echoing the balance of the overall clothing very well.

Next, let's talk about the wig and accessories. The ice-blue-to-light-pink gradient twin tails have a huge visual span, paired with the black square hair accessory on top of the head, full of the unique design sense of anime-style photography. This hair color has very high demands on lighting in studio shooting; insufficient light makes it look dull, while overexposure causes it to lose gradient details. The photographer grasped this just right; semi-transparent light hitting the hair made the pink hair ends look extremely translucent.

On the day of the shoot, I actually tried various poses to fit the theme. Standing and looking straight ahead appeared calm and focused; sitting on a stepladder looking up or reaching out broke the dullness of static poses and endowed the frame with a dynamic sense of tension. Especially the two shots sitting on the ladder leaning forward and reaching out—it looks like a simple action, but because of the forward body leaning combined with the focused gaze, it created a feeling of searching for an interactive partner amidst countless space fragments. This is the power of visual language.

Regarding the scene, we chose a grayish-blue industrial-style space with a very clean background, decorated only with a black photography chair and stands. This single-toned cold background happened to form a strong cool-warm contrast with the bright yellow trench coat and colorful gradient hair, greatly highlighting the character subject. The dark-toned lighting and shadow combined with a slight dust effect made the entire set of photos not just a character restoration, but more like a set of story-driven anime-style photography images.

Finally, let's talk about the makeup. To match this styling, I adopted a translucent base makeup, weakening the makeup sense on the face and leaving the visual focus to the blue colored contacts. The makeup was not deliberately made exaggerated, but pursued a natural feel that looked like it should be born that way. Staying in the venue for several hours, although a bit stuffy due to the lighting, seeing the image on the monitor gradually turn into what I envisioned in my mind, that sense of accomplishment is indescribable. This set of photos not only records the character, but also records my understanding and dedication to this styling during that period.
