[Yuyuko Cosplay] Touhou Project Saigyouji Yuyuko, a fleeting and dreamy vibe

This Saigyouji Yuyuko costume took about nearly half a year from material selection to final presentation in front of the lens. Since the character's setting is a ghost princess, I wanted to try my best to restore that lightweight, ethereal temperament with a hint of aloofness.
The costume's design was much more complex than expected. To restore the layered yet asymmetrical hem in the original artwork, I spent a long time picking out fabrics to ensure a soft gloss could shine through under lighting. The blue-and-pink color scheme on the chest and the waist corset design required multiple trial versions, because the original setting has a very tedious structure. Not only did I have to consider visual restoration, but I also had to ensure it wouldn't easily slip off while wearing. The fabric uses a large amount of lace and chiffon splicing; the right-side purple satin puffy skirt forms a sharp contrast with the left-side thin gauze long skirt hem, and this asymmetrical beauty is one of the biggest highlights of this outfit.
A lot of effort was also put into the wig and makeup. The long pink hair uses high-temperature synthetic fiber. To create an ethereal feel, it required styling and fluffiness treatment in advance. During the shoot, I had an assistant fan from the side to capture the instant when the hair strands fluttered. In terms of makeup, to match the character's setting, pink contact lenses were used, and the eyeshadow was meticulously smudged, trying to bring out a unique mystery and gentleness.
This shoot was a collaboration with Dantaphotograph. We chose a pure white seamless background, which can maximize the highlighting of the clothing's details, while adding a reflection board on the ground to increase the spatial sense and layering of the frame. In terms of poses, we referenced the in-game character portraits and stage settings, trying to use extended arms and a tilted posture to show dynamics. The translucent fan in hand was also custom-made with exquisite gradient patterns. To match the smoothness of the actions, I practiced the fan-holding posture many times.
Actually, shooting this set was quite a hassle. The skirt hem is very large, so moving around required great caution, and the white lace-trimmed stockings on the legs were also prone to snagging, so I was very careful throughout the shooting process. To present the best lighting and shadow effects, we adjusted the lighting angles many times before finally presenting this dreamy atmosphere. Although the process was hard, seeing the final photos made me feel that all the effort was totally worth it. I hope through this set of photos, everyone can feel the character's unique beauty.
