The crowd flow on the second day of the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo was indeed immense, with the entire venue filled with various carefully prepared stylings and an enthusiastic atmosphere. Shuttle-weaving through the crowd with this look for the whole morning, the high temperature outdoors combined with the continuous flash illumination drained my physical energy more than imagined, but seeing the previewed behind-the-scenes cuts in the camera made me feel it was completely worth it.

Let's first talk about the styling design this time. In terms of material, this costume utilizes a white fabric with a relatively good drape, paired with flowy light-blue patchwork at the chest and shoulders to look lighter visually. The shoulders feature an off-shoulder treatment, which happens to pair perfectly with the golden diamond-shaped patchwork accessory on the neck. This golden accessory was specially customized with a matte texture to avoid excessive reflection. The wig part is the main highlight of this look; the main body is black, with a large amount of magenta highlights on both sides, balancing the layers of the bangs and sideburns. To give the hair a breathable feel, I intentionally sprayed glitter powder on the strands, reflecting starry glimmers under natural light, which adds an incredible vibe under the outdoor environment of the convention.

In terms of makeup, I selected cool-toned purple contact lenses paired with pinkish-orange eyeshadow to make the eye makeup look deeper yet not overly exaggerated. The lip makeup chose a matte texture flesh-pink to make the overall temperament look relatively soft. The restoration difficulty of this styling mainly lies in the balance between the hairstyle and accessories because the headpiece's volume is not small, requiring it to be secured firmly on the head without tilting due to walking around.

Speaking of the shooting process during this convention, the live environment was actually quite cluttered, making it not easy to find a clean background. After discussing with the photographer and team members, we chose a glass curtain wall near the outer side of the venue. The fourth picture can be called a highly authentic behind-the-scenes record; the frame captures my state during a shooting break, closing my eyes to slightly adjust my condition. And in the picture you see, the most prominent thing is that wireless trigger at the top, along with the camera and professional flash combo in the photographer's hands below.

During actual shooting, to showcase a soft demeanor in close-up shots, expression management actually made up a huge portion of the work. For example, the action of reaching out your hand seems like a simple pose, but to maintain frame stability when the hand is suspended in the air and ensure natural extension of the shoulders and neck, the core must be tightened. Light at the convention venue changes very quickly, and occasionally a gust of wind blows the hair into a mess, so the photographer must capture the exact shutter instant. These three close-ups you see were actually completed through continuous snapshots within a very short interval, which highly tests the photographer's anticipation and the camera's autofocus capability during this cosplay photography session.

The process of preparing convention photos is not merely about putting on clothes and taking a few pictures, but more about digging out the character's temperament and one's own expressiveness. Meanwhile, the light and shadow conditions on set, the selection of the background, and the layout of the photography team will all directly affect the final cut's results. Today, under the outdoor and semi-outdoor light and shadow, paired with the fill light from the wireless trigger, the shadow issues brought by natural light were beautifully compensated for, making the facial lighting look cleaner and softer.

After being busy outdoors for half the day, we finally shot satisfying materials. Although this look caused some obstruction when moving around at the convention due to having quite a few accessories, the visual effect presented in the end still possessed high texture. When sorting through the behind-the-scenes photos on my phone and seeing the previews in the photographer's camera, I felt that the lighting configuration and composition at the scene this time beautifully matched the character's traits. I hope this shooting record can present that unique temperament and style of the character.
