[Sonoda Umi cosplay] Love Live! Cupid's arrow Ready to Fire

Convention photos of my Sonoda Umi cosplay at the Dreamland Anime Convention. A lot of effort went into everything from costume preparation to the shoot itself. The outfit features the classic blue-and-white palette, pairing a sailor-style top with a fitted plaid skirt accented by delicate gold trimming along the edges. White gloves and a blue-and-white checkered garter paired with knee-high boots perfectly recreate the stage presence of a school idol. The skirt has rich layering—an outer blue plaid tier layered over light-colored tulle beneath—which, combined with the wing-like shoulder accents, makes the entire ensemble shine brilliantly under the convention hall lights.

During the shoot, I picked several specific poses to showcase the character's lively vitality. In particular, standing on one leg while waving my arms, or lifting a leg to pose drawing Cupid's arrow, really tested core balance and strength. To achieve a natural look, I continuously adjusted my posture and maintained balance, while photographer Xia Zhi Xuan Mao patiently looked for angles, leveraging reflections on the venue floor to create a clean, luminous texture. Despite the bustling convention crowd in the background, using a wide aperture blurred out distractions and kept the subject sharply focused. For hair and makeup, to capture the character's true spirit, I selected large-diameter amber-orange contact lenses and styled a long, sleek dark-blue straight wig. Paired with the beret and blue flower accessory, the whole look became much more refined. Grooming the wig and perfecting the makeup beforehand took quite some time, all to convey the confidence and vibrancy of a school idol before the lens. Walking through the venue, I met many attendees who appreciated the cosplay; everyone was so friendly, making the entire shoot relaxing and enjoyable. Being able to bring such a cheerful character who courageously pursues her dreams to life, while connecting with her earnest yet slightly bashful demeanor, was the most rewarding aspect of this shoot. Although lighting shifted rapidly, the photographer timed every shutter click impeccably, successfully capturing dynamic actions in between the moving crowd. Wearing this outfit naturally made me stand taller to embody that stage spirit. This convention shoot was such a delightful Cosplay photography experience, and I'm deeply grateful to the photographer for all the hard work.
