When shooting these convention photos, I specially brought along this black and green Gothic Lolita style dress and that highly prominent purple telephone cord prop. The outfit has a lot of details, with black mesh layering over the grass-green skirt, and ruffles decorating the neckline and cuffs. Paired with the light green short curly wig and matching colored contact lenses, the overall visual style leans toward a fairytale vibe with a touch of mystery. The thick-soled black lace-up leather shoes match perfectly with the openwork fishnet socks, nicely balancing the intricate visual weight of the dress.
The core props this time are the purplish-black vintage telephone receiver and the blue decorative flowers. The purple telephone cord connecting it was quite a challenge for on-site coordination during the live shoot; it needed to hang naturally into a specific arc, avoiding getting tangled in the skirt while interacting with the blue accents on the shoes. The flow of the cord was easier to control during static sitting poses, but when switching to a single-leg lift, the moment the multi-layered skirt flew up, combined with the rim light from the venue's ceiling lights, created an incredibly natural sense of dynamic motion. Later, I tried a sitting pose close to the ground, which completely showcased the upper body and the draping structure of the dress.
Since the shoot took place in the indoor environment of the convention, the surrounding light was relatively messy. However, the photographer mastered the aperture and background blur beautifully, making the character the absolute visual focus. Through expert Cosplay photography, the wig showed a very delicate gradient light effect under the lamps, and the clear green-toned makeup made the eyes look exceptionally bright. The shooting process was actually quite a test of physical endurance, requiring repeated angle adjustments to achieve the most natural visual feedback for the cord's direction and the skirt's folds.
I am very happy to have captured this set of photos. Besides capturing the static standing poses, moments like the one in the second picture, filled with a light and rhythmic motion, are very atmospheric. The most precious part of convention photos is capturing the most authentic and vivid side of a character. I hope this set presents a style that is both mysterious in texture and a bit playful.
