[Theresa Cosplay] The Arknights Lord of Fiends Lies Down Among Flowers at a Convention

For this shoot, we chose a relatively quiet area inside the convention venue, laying out blue and white artificial flowers across the floor as a foreground base. During early discussions with the photographer, our core tone was set around a sense of relaxed ease. The character Theresa in the lore possesses a big-sister charisma that remains elegant and calm even at the center of a storm, so I hoped these Convention photos could break away from dry, conventional booth compositions and incorporate more ambient atmosphere.

The light-colored, low-saturation wig was the soul of the overall makeup and styling. Because the hair strands are quite light, combined with airflow caused by the dense convention crowds, even a light breeze made them look exceptionally flowy. To complement this ethereal transparency, I paired a black sheer mesh jacket with a blue-and-white inner top, where the layered ruffles at the collar and metal buckle details on the cuffs added fine craftsmanship to the outfit. Although the long sleeves partially covered my arms, I personally loved the color contrast of the black base against blue-and-white elements. The black choker around my neck nicely bridged the heavy color blocks of the upper body, making the overall look sharper and more narrative.

To capture this shot, I actually held a rather awkward pose. The sea of flowers looked soft, but beneath it was hard carpeting, requiring me to adjust the pressure points of my shoulders and head to ensure even lighting on my facial contours. This semi-low-angle camera perspective heavily tested the photographer's mastery of light. With the high, vaulted ceiling of the convention venue serving as the backdrop, long white strip lights functioned as excellent rim lighting, illuminating the edges of my hair strands. The scattered white bokeh spots in the image were added in post-processing to soften the cold, industrial feel of the venue, giving the overall composition a dreamy, fragile sense of poetic beauty.

As Convention photos, we lacked top-tier studio lighting equipment and relied entirely on experience to capture ambient lighting on location. The photographer was extremely patient, repeatedly adjusting angles to ensure shadows didn't overpower my facial features. Lying on the floor made me worry occasionally about the wig cap showing or clothes wrinkling unnaturally, but reviewing the camera screen in real time revealed that this slightly casual, lazy ease fit our intended theme perfectly. The initial makeup wasn't drawn too dramatically; deeply contoured eye makeup paired with a near-natural lip shade kept the focus on facial expressions, conveying Theresa's imposing yet calm majesty.

After finishing this set, passersby took an interest in the flower setup and asked about our prop arrangement. Ground setups like this are common at conventions, but the key lies in isolating the subject's silhouette from a busy background. Trying a lying composition provided an alternative perspective from standing portraits for our final set, giving the scene a more three-dimensional sense of space. Although the shooting process had its twists and turns, maintaining facial clarity and rich ambiance in a dim environment made me very satisfied with the editing choices. This is the essence of Cosplay photography in convention settings—it doesn't require overly complex lighting, but relying on a deep understanding of character disposition can still yield wonderful images. Through this lying photograph, I hope everyone can feel the ease and poised calm of the Arknights Lord of Fiends, Theresa, beneath her serene exterior.
