[Rem cosplay] Autumn festival Yukata Girl, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

Sharing some details and impressions from the photoshoot process of this Autumn festival Yukata Rem cosplay. For the outfit, I chose a white Yukata patterned with blue and pink morning glories. Since it was an Autumn festival theme, the Yukata material was lightweight and breathable; to better match the character, I paired it with a wide pink sash tied with a purple cord tassel at the front and a large bow at the back, giving the overall color scheme a soft look. The wig is light-blue short hair with straight bangs, where the trimming angle and layering of the bangs were key, with the pink flowers and dangling tassel hair accessories on the side being the highlights. Holding a red lantern and a small white pouch in hand perfectly matched the lively event venue.

The shooting process itself was very enjoyable, utilizing outdoor natural light. For the first two photos, we found a relatively open concrete area and used a wide aperture to blur out pedestrians in the background. Standing and chin-resting poses paired with gentle smiles better showcased the front patterns of the outfit and the facial makeup styling. Post-processing avoided heavy editing, basically preserving the original light and shadow. The third photo was taken under a wooden pergola, crouching beside a blue water basin holding a small scoop for scooping colorful balls. I was actually playing at the time, and the photographer captured the candid moment of me looking down playing the game—this unposed movement felt more natural than deliberate posing and fit the Autumn festival atmosphere wonderfully.

The venue was bustling on the day of the shoot. Outdoor conventions or festival events truly test a photographer's snapshot abilities in Cosplay photography, as crowded and messy backgrounds can easily cause unwanted distractions. Therefore, in terms of composition, I worked with the photographer to find clean angles, keeping the subject centered, avoiding background pillars or pedestrians, and utilizing a wide aperture to emphasize the subject. I was quite pleased with the overall outcome; this elegant Yukata, once fully styled, looked exceptionally clean under the sunlight. I love this harmony of light, shadow, and setting, which brings everyday warmth and immersion to the photos.

Since the character is Rem, the blue bangs and hair accessories were crucial. For makeup, I applied a moisturizing lip tint, focusing eye makeup on long eyelashes and slightly downturned outer corners to enhance cuteness. This outfit was actually very comfortable to wear without complex armor or rigid accessories, making it easy to move around—which is why crouching down to play the ball-scooping game on site was effortless. As for props, instead of heavy weapons, lightweight lanterns and pouches were used, preventing arm fatigue during poses and naturally expressing the character's sweet and gentle demeanor.

This set of photos documented the entire journey from standing poses to playing games while crouching. For outdoor Cosplay photography, natural snapshots and good lighting are often much more vivid than rigid poses; with subtle adjustments, the atmosphere comes right through. The drape of the Yukata hem was also lovely; walking along the footpath in geta clogs while the hem fluttered in the breeze created picturesque visuals. After wrapping up, I was eager to see the results and truly appreciate the photographer capturing these beautiful moments. This deeply engaging outdoor shooting process is inherently the most captivating aspect of cosplay culture, offering a brand-new experience every single time.
