This outdoor shoot was set on a rooftop, aiming to capture the feeling of the wind pausing as a girl leaps toward a sky filled with drifting white clouds. The weather on the shooting day was wonderfully cooperative—crisp blue skies with towering white clouds, providing bright, transparent light that gave us ample creative freedom. For gear, we brought a Sony A7C2 paired with two prime lenses: the 35GM and the 85mm f/1.8.

Regarding the outfit, this classic academy-style uniform features a white shirt, a black vest, and a light khaki cardigan tied around the waist. To authentically recreate the character's demeanor, blonde side twin tails and a blue bow were essential. Trimming and styling the wig took considerable effort, particularly shaping the bangs and sideburns to keep an airy, lightweight feel. We also sourced a blue shoulder bag closely matching the original design, creating a harmonious color balance among blue, black, and khaki.

Shooting the leaping motion tested both physical endurance and the photographer's burst-capture timing. Clutching the bag strap with my left hand, I engaged my core mid-air and bent my knees while the photographer shot from a low angle using the 35GM lens. The 35mm focal length creates a wonderful perspective stretch when shooting upward, injecting dynamic tension into the frame while visually elongating the leg lines. Dynamic action shots like this require high-speed continuous shooting, followed by combing through hundreds of frames to pick the single shot with the most flawless posture and expression. The 85mm f/1.8 lens was primarily used for front-facing medium close-ups, where its wide aperture softly melted the background clouds, making the subject pop crisply.

For footwear, I paired black calf socks with dark brown leather loafers—a combination that not only stays faithful to uniform cosplay aesthetics but also visually flatters leg contours. The wind was gusting, rustling the skirt and hair, perfectly complementing the sensation of leaping into the breeze. During color grading, we enhanced the saturation of the blue sky while preserving highlight details in the clouds, tuning the skin tone to look translucent with subtle film grain to evoke a youthful, Japanese-style photo aesthetic.

When executing the actions, keeping expressions natural and lively during jumps was crucial to prevent facial distortion from physical strain. In standing shots, I added a simple peace sign while looking directly into the lens to reveal the character's spirited, playful personality. Overall, this Outdoor cosplay was a fantastic experience—the lighting, scenery, and personal energy aligned seamlessly. The camera's straight-out-of-sensor color science was already solid, requiring only minor post-processing adjustments to hit the ideal result. Documenting these shooting nuances also serves as a rewarding review of my creative journey.
