The convention photos from the Chengdu Worldline comic con have finally been sorted out. This time, I prepared Kinomoto Sakura's classic angel styling. From custom-making the costume to on-site shooting, I encountered quite a few challenges along the way, but also accumulated a lot of experience. First, let's talk about this costume: to recreate that extremely full, fluffy feel from the original design, I layered three full layers inside the petticoat. The upper body fabric is a glossy satin, boasting fantastic texture under outdoor natural light, though its breathability is relatively compromised, and walking a circle around the convention venue definitely caused me to sweat a lot. The most difficult challenge to overcome was the pair of large white wings on my back; although made of lightweight feathers, their massive volume required extra caution when walking around outside the crowded exhibition hall, fearing I might accidentally sweep nearby passersby. To prevent the wings from deforming while walking, I used invisible shoulder straps for internal reinforcement and placed soft silicone pads on the shoulders, so even carrying them all day wouldn't make my shoulders too sore. In terms of props, the star wand's proportions were restored 1:1 according to the original design, moderate in weight when held, and to meet the photographer's demands, I practiced different single-handed and double-handed holding angles in front of the mirror beforehand. On the makeup design side, the focus was placed on enlarging the eye makeup and highlighting the aegyo-sal; to make the wig look natural and not stiff, I intentionally used a flat iron to give the hair ends a slight inward curl, and adjusted the pink bows on the twin tails to their optimal angles. The on-site photographer was extremely professional, knowing how to utilize natural light to showcase the white skirt's translucency. I personally adore the photos where I'm sitting on a folding ladder, because this allows the skirt hem to naturally drape and spread out while brilliantly showcasing the leg lines and the matching details of the White stockings and star little leather shoes. Cosplaying a character with large wings at a convention is indeed physical labor, but seeing the feather layering and the overall frame's completion in the return photos makes all the hard work feel completely worthwhile.
