[Kafū Chino cosplay] Is the Order a Rabbit?: Blue and White Maid Outdoor Shoot - Image 1

Preparing this Kafū Chino cosplay outfit from makeup tests to shooting actually took quite a while. When I first tried it on, the tiered blue-and-white skirt layers felt richly textured. The large bow headpiece and the two long blue twin-tail wigs required the most patience to groom. I slowly combed along the wig fibers to create a flowing, natural drape, aiming to stay as close as possible to the silky texture from the original work.

On the day of the shoot at Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, the exterior lighting offered perfect overcast diffuse reflection without casting harsh shadows across my face. Because the outfit leans toward a youthful lolita aesthetic, pairing it with over-the-knee White stockings and black platform shoes demanded careful attention to leg lines during shooting. I switched between several poses on set, deliberately choosing a side-seated posture to bring out the character's presence against a simple backdrop. Sitting on a white folding chair, I utilized the subtle height difference of the seat to elongate my leg lines while letting the skirt fall naturally to both sides to reveal the White stockings, giving the composition a lighter, airier feel.

For makeup, I intentionally kept eyeshadow and contouring subtle, only using light-colored contacts to match the character's cool yet soft, adorable vibe, with very understated lip color. The styling process was quite intricate—especially trying an off-the-shoulder maid dress for the first time, which required carefully adjusting undergarments to ensure the dress maintained its silhouette. The convention center was crowded with onlookers watching, but once in character, I stopped paying attention to the surroundings. Using a DSLR on the ground, the photographer set up the tripod and looked for low angles. Sitting on the chair, I rested one hand on the edge and the other on my knee, looking off to the left—this avoided the stiffness of staring directly into the lens while tightening the waistline for a more natural posture.

Though sitting for long periods made my legs a bit numb, the effort was well worth it to recreate that quiet, slightly languid afternoon tea atmosphere. Tidying the back skirt train, the soft sheen of the White stockings looked exceptionally gentle under the cloudy natural light when lifting my leg. The shooting pace went smoother than expected; with fewer complex poses, it relied more on natural gazes and steady breathing to find the right state. Throughout, I kept an eye on the dress to ensure no messy wrinkles appeared in any frame. Reviewing raw photos on the computer, I felt that unique, cool charm of the character was truly captured. Overall, though this Outdoor shoot at the convention center was brief, stepping into this gorgeous outfit to embody this character was a genuinely joyful cosplay experience.
