Bringing this Qingxiao costume from initial preparation to actual wear took countless rounds of adjustments. To faithfully recreate the aloof, flowing essence of the Master from Wuthering Waves, tremendous care was poured into the textiles and ornaments. The expansive outer layers of pale-blue chiffon required a natural, airy drape, while the inner white form-fitting mini-skirt featured cutout tailoring. The golden metallic embellishments across the chest and shoulders, as well as the traditional frog buttons along the collar, were all hand-sewn and secured to prevent shifting during high-intensity convention walking. For the wig, I chose a delicate gradient transitioning from pale blue into pure white. The cloud-patterned semi-translucent hairpins atop the crown were handcrafted one by one—baked from shrink plastic, painted, and assembled—with an added pearlescent finish to evoke a faint luminous glow beneath venue lights. The makeup emphasized an aloof yet fragile aura: a clean, matte foundation served as the base, with primary focus on the eyes, pairing vibrant blue contact lenses with soft reddish gradients swept along the outer corners and lower lash lines, complemented by a touch of pink on the nose tip to channel the Master's transcendent yet compassionate temperament.
The convention floor shoot took place inside the exhibition center, where overhead grid lights and structural steel trusses offered generous staging potential. @Toki小免 was consummate and professional in directing postures: to accentuate the billowing motion of the long sleeves and sheer chiffon, I engaged in wide, dynamic gestures—raising my left hand to form a hand seal while extending my right hand outward. This not only opened up the expansive drape of the sleeves, but also allowed the waist cutout lines and skirt slit to unfurl gracefully across the composition. Despite the bustling crowd, leveraging cool-toned overhead illumination paired with reflector fill for facial shadows preserved exceptional texture in the final retouched shots. Under close-up lenses, individual hair strands, earrings, and tassel textures were crisply captured, with even the fine weave of the sheer chiffon fully legible.
The entire shoot demanded continuous calibration of breath and facial micro-expressions to sustain the Master's majestic composure without slipping into rigid stiffness. Navigating a noisy convention floor clad in such heavily ornamented attire was undeniably a test of stamina; the metal hardware and trailing chiffon caught easily, requiring vigilance with every step. Whenever I portray characters from Wuthering Waves, my goal is always to manifest the game's distinctive aesthetic—fusing ink-wash artistic flair with futuristic touches—into the physical realm. Reviewing the photos reaffirmed the nuanced details across every angle, and the costume's faithful execution met expectations. Once the shoot wrapped, the garments had to be hung immediately to restore fabric drape and inspect for any loose hardware. Overall, it was a thoroughly fulfilling creative journey, with deep gratitude to the photographer for their patient direction and immaculate captures.
