[The Shorekeeper cosplay] That Touch of Serene Blue in Wuthering Waves

The core of this Shorekeeper look lies in balancing aloof serenity with elegance. Before the shoot, I spent a lot of time perfecting the makeup and wig. Because her hair is a light, ice-blue shade, the choice of wig fiber had very high standards. To recreate that water-ripple texture, I specifically chose an ultra-smooth, high-grade synthetic wig, carefully sectioning and trimming it. For makeup, to suit The Shorekeeper's persona in Wuthering Waves, I avoided overly heavy colors. Instead, I wore ice-blue contact lenses with a sheer, translucent base. A subtle smudge of light blue eyeshadow at the outer corners of my eyes, combined with detailed lower lashes, gave her gaze an ethereal, otherworldly feel.

For the outfit, I chose a highly stylized white tulle gown adorned with pale blue accents and pearls. It featured extensive ruffling along the neckline and cuffs; while somewhat cumbersome to put on, the texture looked incredible under the lights. To complement the veil, I specially included butterfly-themed props. In the first shot, a blue butterfly masks my lips—an idea inspired by the butterfly motifs closely tied to the character, adding a touch of mystery.

The shoot was split across two settings. The first set was beside a piano on the lawn, using the sharp contrast of natural light to bring out her cool, striking beauty. I remember squatting in the grass with the skirt pressing against my legs, which was rather uncomfortable, but I held the pose for the shot. The second set was indoors, surrounded by an antique vanity and floral arrangements, aiming for the warm, intimate vibe of a bride or a serene princess. We used warm sidelight to highlight the layered dimensions of the white tulle.

On the day of the shoot, securing the wig took quite some time, and the veil's pin placements had to be adjusted repeatedly to avoid obscuring facial expressions while preserving the billowy, wind-swept drape. The fresh flowers for the indoor set were bought in advance—calla lilies and roses—which paired wonderfully with the overall refined ambiance. During the shoot, the photographer suggested closing my eyes or looking slightly downward, which beautifully accentuated the character's gentleness and gave the imagery a narrative depth. During retouching, I made a conscious effort to preserve the translucent skin texture, only slightly tweaking the contrast to avoid ruining the original dreamy, hazy softness. This shoot gave me a deeper understanding of portraying ethereal characters: harmonizing body language and eye contact matters far more than just static posing.
