[Topaz cosplay] Special Debts Picket Team at Hengqin Anime Convention | Honkai: Star Rail

The primary goal of this convention photoshoot was to showcase Topaz's professional efficiency at work, blended with a hint of playful charm. To authentically capture the character design amidst the convention hall, immense preparation went into the wardrobe details. The black faux-leather bodysuit produced a sleek, glossy sheen under the lights, though wearing it in the hot, crowded expo venue definitely required stamina. To match the proportions of the original character art, the white toe caps and chunky heels of the tall boots were custom-made, while the crimson leg ring and metallic chains across the thigh were calibrated repeatedly to ensure they wouldn't easily slip while walking or posing.

As for the iconic prop gun in hand, the blue-and-gold finish underwent extensive fine-tuning. Holding the gun aloft single-handedly on set while sustaining dynamic tension tested both arm and core strength, given its noticeable weight. To keep from looking stiff, I alternated between standing, crouching, and utilizing an on-site stepladder as a prop. The seated pose atop the ladder with crossed legs not only showcased the leg contours and boot design beautifully, but also naturally highlighted the absolute territory and crimson strapping, lending rich visual depth to the frame.

The lighting at Hengqin Anime Convention was fairly complex, so I'm deeply grateful to the photographer for finding such brilliant lighting angles. Leveraging the black backdrop drapes and silver metallic railings, paired with specular reflections across the polished floor, the crimson-and-black wardrobe and silver-white wig popped dramatically, evoking a sleek, sci-fi atmosphere. As a debt collector, Topaz requires a gaze carrying confident scrutiny without losing her signature bubbly liveliness. Thus, whenever facing the lens, I maintained a subtle, knowing smirk, aiming to capture her effortless, nonchalant mastery. This photo set was not only a passionate attempt at character fidelity, but also a joyful convention shooting experience.
