The convention photos from this Kunming comic convention are finally out, featuring Xishi's Continuation of Acacia from Honor of Kings. The setting of this skin is extremely ethereal; to restore that feeling of a lotus lamp guiding the thread and a fairy descending into the mortal world, a lot of thought was indeed put into the makeup and styling. The white wavy wig combined with that ultra-complex golden crown is actually quite heavy when worn on the head. There are many detailed head accessories, including those hanging small tassels, which easily tangle when moving. Therefore, during the on-site shooting, I tried to slow down my movements to let the hair strands and accessories fall naturally. The layers of the clothing are very rich: the outer layer is orange-pink and white semi-transparent gauze, and the inner layer features irregularly cut skirts. When walking, the skirt hem lifts up, giving a strong sense of elegance. The black metal decoration on the chest and the golden piping add a touch of gorgeousness. The makeup emphasized green colored contacts and the shading at the outer corners of the eyes, which are also recognizable features of Xishi. To match the overall lightweight feel, I chose a pair of transparent high-heeled sandals. Although it is a modern material, the design of wearing transparent straps barefoot just doesn't destroy the overall ethereal vibe, and instead elongates the leg lines. The lighting at the comic convention scene was actually quite messy, so we found a relatively spacious indoor area. The ceiling grille and reflective floor in the background instead added a bit of modern exhibition hall coldness, contrasting with the soft styling. To capture different angles, I also sat on a black folding ladder. This ladder prop was quite unexpected; sitting on it with crossed legs, gently lifting the skirt hem or pinching the white gauze with hands—without needing exaggerated movements—brought out that lazy yet slightly sexy posture. The height of the steps allowed the leg lines to be fully displayed, and coupled with the sitting posture on the carpet, we were able to capture photos from many different perspectives. Among the whole set of pictures, my favorites are those sitting on the ladder, not only because they showcase the leg lines well, but also because the coordination of hand movements and gaze was quite spot-on. When pinching the gauze, the gaze needs to be softened, carrying a subtle allure, which is a very charming aspect of the character Xishi. Although walking around the convention all day wearing high heels was tiring and the transparent straps occasionally pinched my feet, seeing the gauze dress flying in the final photos made it all completely worthwhile. This styling shoot tried many different small props, hoping to present a multi-dimensional Xishi.
