This photoshoot for Honor of Kings Xiao Qiao's Pure White Wedding skin was completed atop a skyscraper in Chongqing. Shooting on a rooftop was genuinely challenging—the winds were fierce and the sunlight was piercingly bright, but precisely because of these conditions, we captured intense backlighting and richly textured clouds. The dress carried even more detail than I anticipated: multiple cascading skirt tiers layered together, with fabrics embroidered with golden stars, diamond gems, and specialized motifs. Wearing it felt substantial and quite heavy. In particular, pairing it with white stockings and platform shoes meant executing jump poses on a rooftop demanded serious core strength and ankle stability.
While the crown headpiece was exquisite, wearing it for extended periods left my neck aching. To recreate that evocative moment of welcoming true love amidst the breeze, I communicated extensively with the photographer. We settled on a low-angle upward perspective to elongate the silhouette while framing flocks of white doves against the sky. During shooting, I held the pink bridal bouquet high in my right hand, stretched my left arm out naturally, and drove upward through my legs to leap into the air. To capture the ideal frame just as the doves took flight, we repeated this leap countless times.
Every time I jumped with full power, I had to consciously manage my facial expression—keeping windswept hair from looking awkward while channeling Xiao Qiao's joyful anticipation and longing for romance. The friction of the white stockings and platform shoes against the concrete rooftop made each landing something to execute with caution. Stepping into this Pure White Wedding look taught me that the essence lies in capturing her innocent sweetness blended with magnificent ceremonial grandeur. It goes far beyond merely donning a bridal gown and styling a wig; the true heart is projecting that buoyant lightness charged with emotional strength.
The whistling rooftop wind mingled with the fluttering flutter of dove wings, while sunlight casting across the white dress radiated a soft, ethereal halo—an on-site spectacle even more breathtaking than the final stills. Leaping left me breathless, yet beholding the framing and light play on the camera monitor made every sacrifice worthwhile. This Chongqing shoot was immensely rewarding, helping me conquer rough outdoor rooftop conditions while unlocking fresh insights into bodily and facial control.
