This Hanfu makeup and styling for the Third Lotus Prince Nezha took immense dedication from pre-production to the final shoot, and I personally adore how the overall presentation turned out. The facial makeup was entrusted to Master Cookie; the eye makeup and forehead huadian mark were crafted with exquisite delicacy, embodying both mythological divinity and youthful, spirited maidenly charm. The first four photos were captured behind the lens by Masters Cookie and Heshejun, staged beside a Lotus pond overflowing with lush lily pads. To align with the character, I chose a crimson cross-collar robe woven with subtle jacquard patterns, layered over a white pleated inner lining and cinched with a black belt, while layering golden metallic neck torcs around the collar to elevate visual depth.

The greatest challenge in executing this styling lay in coordinating the heavy props with fluid movements. The golden ring and long polearm spear in my hands carried substantial weight; performing spins, glances back over the shoulder, and hand mudras without looking stiff severely tested my arm strength. Furthermore, with generous swathes of crimson sheer chiffon wrapped around the garment, navigating my footwork required extreme caution to prevent snagging on lotus stems. Yet this airy flutter dancing in the breeze perfectly softened the rigid hardness of the weaponry, injecting wonderful visual lightness into the frame.

Outdoor natural lighting was genuinely tricky, but the photographers masterfully capitalized on backlighting and rim-lighting, making the red fabric radiate rich tactile depth against the shadowy green backdrop of lotus leaves. To heighten the Chinese-style fantasy ambiance, flying spark embers were introduced in post-production. As an exploration of Ancient style photography and traditional cosplay, I invested heavy effort into facial expression control—striving to unleash the character's fierce combat prowess without sacrificing classical grace. While the entire session drained plenty of physical stamina, witnessing that harmonious coexistence of strength and delicate beauty emerge on the final prints made every effort completely worthwhile.
