[Scathach cosplay] FGO Shishou: Purple Armor Convention Photos Log

Bringing the Land of Shadows Shishou look for Scathach cosplay from Fate/Grand Order to the convention, my first thought was how high the material accuracy requirements were for this gear. To replicate the combat aura of the game's official card art, we tried a paneling design combining glossy black leather with purple translucent mesh fabric for the outfit materials. Large areas of glossy black leather created distinct highlight reflections under indoor lights, which, paired with gold metallic-textured shoulder armor, instantly elevated overall layering. The gold headband on top and red eye makeup were also crucial keys to reinforcing character recognition.

The red lance props were the highlight of the entire ensemble. To make photos look great, the weapons were crafted with a highly reflective glossy finish, spiral textures on the handles, and specially elongated and widened spearheads. However, carrying them around the venue all day severely tested arm strength, especially in crowded exhibition halls where I had to stay constantly cautious not to accidentally hit passersby. During shooting—whether sitting on a black high stool holding lances in both hands as in photo 1, or half-kneeling on the floor using a red lance as a support point in photo 5—natural posing required stable support from arms and shoulders.

Many cosplayers intentionally pursue a completely lofty and aloof feeling when showcasing Shishou, but I preferred adding a touch of a warrior's own dashing sharpness while preserving the character's cold, elegant aura. I particularly love that half-kneeling shot in photo 5: leaning forward with one hand on the floor and the other raising the red weapon backward-sideways, combined with long legs encased in purple mesh, Purple pantyhose texture, and black boots, evokes a sense of poised power ready to attack at any moment. Black strap details across the body, such as cross-lacing on the chest and leg strap structures, accented with golden metal buckles, made the look tight and crisp. Purple gloves on hands and body mesh tights on legs formed a color echo front to back.

The shooting environment this time was a typical exhibition hall, where industrial steel frames and dome pendant lights overhead provided a very unique light-and-shadow backdrop. Although noisy on site, the photographer excelled at utilizing wide-aperture lenses to dissolve the background, blurring cluttered crowds and display boards into soft bokeh behind, perfectly highlighting this black-and-purple armor in these Convention photos. Shooting in a highly lit venue with complex light sources like an anime convention makes controlling reflections on glossy black leather quite a challenge; fortunately, adjusting angles on site allowed glossy leather surfaces to catch top lighting just right, preventing the outfit from blending into the black background.

From the half-body portrait in photo 3 to the close-up in photo 4 showing weapons crisscrossing leg lines, we searched for quiet corners to avoid flowing crowds to achieve peak condition during limited convention time. Straight long purple hair with straight bangs formed a strong contrast against red contact lenses under banquet-level cool lighting in this Anime cosplay session. Carrying this costume out was actually quite cumbersome—just donning shoulder armor and gold ornaments took considerable time—but the moment I truly changed into this look and held the red lances, the character's dignity naturally took over. Navigating the venue with twin lances all day left me exhausted, yet being able to recreate this character state where stern lethality and elegance coexist in reality through my own interpretation is the true meaning of this convention trip.
