The Convention photos from Day 3 of the Shenzhen Anime Festival are finally retouched! This time, I cosplayed Jeanne d'Arc from Azur Lane, selecting an elegant white evening gown styling brimming with mature, commanding charm. Starting with the wardrobe details: the core piece is a fitted white mini dress layered beneath a trailing overskirt with a dramatic high slit ascending all the way to the hip. To complement this daring slit, I wore white lace-trimmed Stockings paired with shimmering silver stiletto heels accented by delicate pearl ankle chains. The three-dimensional lace embroidery and pearlescent fabric across the bodice gleamed beautifully under direct light, though donning it demanded extreme caution since delicate threads snag easily. The sprawling royal-blue cape across the back anchored the entire look—edged with gold thread embroidery, its sheer expanse carried considerable weight, requiring sustained core engagement to prevent the drag from pulling my posture off-center. The fluffy white fur stole framing my shoulders contoured the neckline and shoulder ratio nicely; however, given the warm hall temperatures, I took it off between takes to cool down.
Wig styling and cosmetics also demanded careful attention. The short platinum-blonde wig was sculpted with precision, crowned by an intricate array of white faux blossoms, feather hair accessories, and a trailing blue tassel, all anchored with numerous bobby pins to withstand continuous walking across the show floor. For makeup, I wore azure contact lenses to embody the character, layering dense mascara and nuanced eyeshadow gradients to deepen ocular dimension. My hands were clad in semi-sheer white lace opera gloves, accented on the right wrist with a green jade-style bangle and beaded bracelets, adding rich visual layers to every gesture.
Executing the poses with high leg lifts was by far the most grueling part of this shoot. In the cover image, holding that leg aloft required balancing core stability while ensuring the skirt drape fell naturally to showcase leg lines and the fine texture of the Stockings. Because of the extreme slit, I wore white safety shorts underneath; their hem length was crucial to allow expansive movement without breaking immersion on camera. While the silver stilettos were visually stunning, standing on them for extended periods was excruciating, forcing me to slip into flats between shot setups. Navigating the chaotic venue illumination required seamless communication with the photographer, blending overhead cool lights with portable fill strobes to draw specular highlights from the plush stole and sequined heels, delivering rich depth and dimensional presence.
Jeanne d'Arc inherently embodies a sacred yet resolute presence. This design harmonizes sanctity with sultry allure through the white evening gown and blue cape. Throughout the performance, I strove to project poised nobility through my expressions and posture while utilizing the high-slit architecture for high-tension posing. Convention photography is a rigorous endurance test—capturing exceptional frames demands preliminary wardrobe preparation, persistent pose experimentation, and acute mastery of on-site lighting.
