[Jeanne d'Arc cosplay] Catching the Tail End of Summer: Outdoor Photoshoot at the Water Park

Taking advantage of the tail end of summer, I quickly arranged an Outdoor cosplay shoot at the Water park, aiming to combine Jeanne d'Arc's styling with the refreshing coolness of summer. Managing the golden blonde wig wasn't easy; to keep the bangs in a natural curve and prevent them from being messed up by the wind, I used quite a bit of styling products and curled the wig with a curling iron beforehand. The black headband on top was a crucial fixing point; to ensure its position was accurate, I adjusted it in front of the mirror several times. Paired with the side braid tightly tied with a yellow hairband, the high level of completion of the overall look depended on these details, which are often overlooked in casual shoots.

A lot of effort went into the makeup this time. To keep the makeup clean and colors translucent under harsh outdoor sunlight, I applied a technique to subtly enlarge the eyes, choosing blue-green colored contacts paired with pink blush and lip glaze. This not only made the gaze look deeper, but also maintained a healthy glow under strong sunlight without looking washed out from the heat. At the same time, I paid special attention to highlights and contouring, as outdoor lighting is complex, and a lack of definition would make facial features look flat.

For the outfit, I chose a light blue zippered hooded jacket that echoed the color of the pool in the background perfectly, paired with a black inner top trimmed with white lace. This contrast carried a sense of design while maintaining character traits and showcasing summer coolness and body curves. To prevent wardrobe malfunctions, I secured the neckline with tape; knowing I'd be outdoors for a long time, I also prepared thoroughly with waterproof sunscreen to prevent sunburn. I really love the composition of the first photo—this low-angle perspective showed off figure advantages wonderfully, making the silhouette look very slender.

The weather on the day of the shoot was fantastic, with beautiful clouds in the sky, and the background featuring deep blue pool water, distant green trees, and water slides, forming a very harmonious color palette with the blue jacket. However, the sunlight was glaring; shooting at eye level easily created harsh facial shadows, prominent glare, and overexposed clothing. After discussing with the photographer, we decided to shoot from a low angle to suppress highlights. While a low angle makes the face look smaller and flatters the body, it also puts expression management to the test, requiring me to tuck my chin and mind the angle of looking at the camera. To pick the most natural shot, we repeatedly adjusted angles and shot many frames before selecting a satisfying one.

The second photo was a candid moment during a break. Because the sun was so bright, I subconsciously raised my hand to block the light, which the photographer happened to snap. It carried a breezy sense of dynamic motion, turning into a playful pose fitting for playing by the water on a sunny summer day, feeling much more lively than deliberate posing. When the wind blew and the wig fluttered along, the whole frame felt alive.

I originally wore this jacket thinking it would be chilly by the water in the morning, but once the noon sun came out, it became extremely hot. During the shoot, I touched up my makeup several times and adjusted the hairbands, with the wig fluttering in the wind. Though it was a bit tough, seeing the natural movement of hair blown by the breeze and the vivid expressions in the photos made everything worthwhile. Since we shot by the pool, safety was an extra priority to prevent slipping and protect equipment from water. To avoid passersby, we scouted several quiet corners and waited for lighting adjustments.

The experience of this shoot was very fulfilling; this blue-toned styling was a perfect match for the poolside environment, brimming with summer atmosphere. This photoshoot put a perfect period on this summer, serving as an unforgettable Summer location shoot experience.
