[Amiya Cosplay] Arknights: Lord of Fiends Finale Photoshoot Record

When planning this 'Finale' shoot, the entire creative direction revolved around two key concepts: 'shattered' and 'stillness.' For many players, the impression of Amiya, the Lord of Fiends in the storyline is her heavy burden of responsibility. In this cosplay photoshoot, I tried to visually materialize that sense of burden through the contrast of black and white color blocks, as well as the burns and crystallization marks of Oripathy.

On the day of the shoot in a Chongqing studio, we kept the lighting cool-toned, avoiding too many colors to minimize visual distraction. The black crown and thorns were actually much heavier in person than they look in the photos. To capture her slightly sickly, delicate, and cold demeanor, I adopted many curled-up or slightly head-bowed postures. For example, in the photo selected as the cover, I am holding that glowing black egg prop while sitting curled up with my knees together on a black pedestal. The layering of the black and white tulle paired with the warm string lights on the floor created a beautiful overlay of cool and warm light. The light from this prop was actually incredibly bright, which made my eyes a bit watery when adjusting angles on set.

For the outfit, the material of the white outer robe is extremely light, with edges purposefully torn and distressed to give the impression of weathering and trial. The semi-transparent texture of the black veil, paired with the intricate details of the crown, created a very fluid yet melancholic line of movement whenever I walked or caught the gentle breeze of the studio fan. This was my favorite part of the dynamic capture, alongside the static poses. The hem of the white robe was hand-torn for a natural edge, with multiple layers crafted for a floating effect.

For the makeup and the black skin markings, we chose special materials that adhered closely to the skin. These markings on my arms and legs served as a unique visual language, not only fitting the character's mysterious lore but also establishing an extreme contrast against the large area of the solid white dress. In this minimalist, solid-colored studio setting, the texture of the fabric, the details of the skin, and the gloss of the props became the true protagonists of the frame. To match the Lord of Fiends persona, we kept the makeup palette understated, focusing instead on defining the eyes and facial shadows. This distant, observant gaze, paired with blue contact lenses, perfectly brought out her cold detachment.

Often, when photographing a character with such complex designs, it's not enough to simply recreate her physical appearance; you also have to think about how to convey the atmosphere where light and darkness coexist through the lens. The photographer and I spent a long time fine-tuning the shutter speed and aperture blur to achieve an emotional expression that was both delicate and grand. From sitting silently on a Roman column for full-body shots to close-up interactions with hand props, I wanted to make sure there was no wasted shot, precisely capturing the magical blend of vulnerability and strength in Amiya, the Lord of Fiends. Regarding collaboration, we spent a lot of time discussing props and lighting positions beforehand. Shooting with special glowing props is a massive test for lighting and exposure. Finding the right posture in front of that glowing egg so that the light fell perfectly on my face without overexposing required countless trials on set.

Although the journey from conceptualization to execution was exhausting, being able to quietly complete such a dark, shattered story in the studio was incredibly rewarding. I hope everyone can feel the deep exploration of the character's core through these photos, going beyond a mere surface-level recreation of her design.
