Taking advantage of the National Day holiday, I finally shot this Sangonomiya Kokomi maid fan-art look. From finalizing the outfit coordination plan to the final turned-out photoset, and from the studio shoot on-site in Shenzhen to the fine-tuning of post-processing details, the entire process made me feel highly fulfilled. The scene environment at the Wadaxi Self-service Studio is genuinely excellent; the indoor space is translucent and bright, and the clean white gauze layout paired with floral arrangements and retro oil painting props perfectly fits the lightweight, dreamy feel of this maid outfit.

The maid dress chosen this time, featuring a light purple and navy blue patchwork, adds a slice of ethereal grace and elegance compared to traditional black-and-white palettes. The inclusion of multi-layered ruffles and white lace trim on the skirt hem enhances the overall sense of layering; that massive dark bowtie on the chest becomes the visual focus, which, paired with the embroidered white apron, raises the waistline and prevents the overall color scheme from appearing too floating. The sleeves feature a lightweight blue chiffon fabric, creating a highly natural floating quality with every movement.

The wig underwent a gradient treatment from pale pink down to the hair ends, paired with a pearl head chain and blue-purple thin-gauze hair accessories, forming a wonderful echo with the exquisite lace neckpiece at the collar. The makeup focused primarily on emphasizing eye shape adjustments, cooperating with red-toned contact lenses to try and recreate that gentle yet slightly mysterious temperament characteristic of Sangonomiya Kokomi. After putting on the white silk stockings and the shoes with pearl bowties, the overall fairy-tale completeness became absolute.

During the shoot, we guided several different states, such as cradling the exquisite golden-patterned teapot or holding a white-based afternoon tea cupcake, highlighting a relaxed and joyful afternoon atmosphere. I particularly love the golden carved mirror frame prop used in this photoset; whether used as a picture frame for composition or as a medium between reality and reflection, the captured frames feel highly narrative, producing an exceptionally retro and elegant effect. The photographer also beautifully captured minor details of the gaze and hand movements.

To briefly mention the studio shoot situation, being in Shenzhen during National Day, the price of 158 for three sets is genuinely highly cost-effective, which is very suitable for friends who have just started getting into cosplay or want to experiment more with fan-art works of different styles. Teacher Ali, who was responsible for the post-processing, is highly professional; she didn't over-edit to distort the shapes but preserved the authentic skin texture and hair details, handling the overall light and shadow quality into a clean, soft, and clear finish, while those shimmering light effects added in post-processing made the entire photoset even more dreamily fairy-tale-like.

Although the level of completion of this photoset is quite high, there is still plenty of room for improvement. For instance, regarding the placement of hand actions, the muscles of the arm should be more relaxed when holding the teapot to better match the tonality of such elegant clothing. I am also slowly accumulating experience through practical shoots like this time after time, continuously drawing closer to the character's temperament. All in all, this shoot was joyful, and the post-processing is highly satisfying, making it a wonderful attempt worth recording, and I look forward to encountering a more interesting maid theme in the next session at a Shenzhen photography studio.
