This photoshoot of Entelechia from Arknights took several weeks of preparation, from initial styling tests to set design. As an exceptionally recognizable character in Arknights, her dark and mysterious aristocratic aura is deeply compelling, so we devoted considerable effort to recreating the styling and makeup details.
Let's talk about the costume coordination first. This look centers on a black silk-textured dress, paired with peacock blue puff sleeves and a flowing train. Visually, the contrast in textures accentuates rich layering, while incorporating black stockings perfectly matches the character's cold, alluring, and restrained style, which—paired with high heels—elongates the overall body silhouette. The black velvet choker around the neck adorned with an exquisite gold floral pearl necklace, along with red roses and beaded strings at the waist, are subtle pieces that proved vital in elevating the overall refinement. A lot of thought went into selecting the garment fabrics to achieve that elegant texture under light and shadow.
In terms of makeup and hair, we applied a skin-true base makeup, highlighting the red eyes and subtle smudged shading beneath the eyes. Paired with high-bun black hair featuring front bangs and pointed elf ears, our goal was to convey that ethereal, mythical mystery of the character. Wearing Elf ears cosplay props really tests how well they fit facial contours, and thankfully the final look turned out very natural. The overall style was about finding the sweet spot between aloof solitude and noble elegance.
For the set design, we chose a vintage Gothic style cosplay studio. The deep red velvet backdrop, vintage carved leather sofa, intricate floral arrangements on the floor, and the close-up in Photo 4 holding a goblet filled with red wine—all these combined elements enriched the frame's storytelling. In Photo 3's perspective, the candlelight from the candelabras created a warm yet dimly lit indoor atmosphere, nicely complementing the color palette of this outfit. Studio lighting was critical: we used warm key lighting to simulate candlelight while adding rim lights to outline the character's silhouette.
We also experimented with unique camera angles, such as the distinct high-angle overhead shot in Photo 1. Although holding balance for this pose was physically demanding, this composition blending the subject with the sofa and floral decor surprisingly accentuated the gown's drape texture and the visual lines of the legs in Black stockings cosplay. In terms of posing, we avoided rigid standing stances, instead referencing the character's personality to showcase a relaxed, confident aura using props like the goblet, candle, and tabletop.
The shooting process was quite lengthy, requiring constant adjustments to garment folds, maintaining wig and accessory shapes, and staying in optimal facial expression. However, seeing the photographer's on-site previews—especially when light streamed through the stained glass onto my face—made all the effort worthwhile. This was more than just taking photos; it was a deep exploration of character ambiance. We didn't over-retouch during post-production color grading, focusing instead on preserving the warm, oil-painting texture from the set. I hope this captures the elegant, enigmatic charm of Arknights' Entelechia for all fellow fans who love this character.
