This time, I chose this old commercial street in Akihabara as the shooting location, which actually fits perfectly with my imagination of Kurisu's daily activity range. To restore her unique temperament, besides that iconic khaki trench coat and cuff details, I also specially emphasized the sharpness of the eyeliner in the makeup, attempting to capture that calmness and stubbornness she occasionally reveals. The color and layers of this wig were adjusted for a long time before presenting a natural glossiness, avoiding looking too much like plastic. It happened to be evening during the shoot. The cool tones of the neon lights and shutter doors formed a contrast, which I felt was especially suitable for the daily life feel with a bit of a sci-fi atmosphere in Steins;Gate.
The most charming part of the character Kurisu is probably that softness occasionally revealed beneath her rational shell. Therefore, I deliberately made some subtle balances in my standing posture and demeanor. For instance, in that angle leaning against the wall and looking back, what I wanted to convey was her slightly tired yet clear-headed state that she inadvertently reveals even when thinking about complex theories. The photographer's candid captures were very precise, without intentionally posing in particularly gorgeous actions, but making the whole frame look as if truly passing by this street corner. The fabric of the clothing has a certain sense of thickness under the flash, unlike many cosplay outfits that feel flimsy, which I am very satisfied with. In fact, shooting such daily-oriented works in Anime-style photography tests the understanding of the character's daily state much more than exaggerated special effects and studio shoots. I really enjoy this process of recreating a 2D character amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. It doesn't create a strong sense of violation, yet allows people to recognize who she is at a single glance. I hope that through these few photos, you can also feel that Makise Kurisu, who travels through countless world lines yet always stays true to her heart.
