This White studio photoshoot set for Evernight cosplay is finally retouched and ready! Collaborating with photographer Yu Zai and makeup artist Xiao Xiao went incredibly smoothly throughout the entire process. This outfit for Evernight from Honkai: Star Rail features so many details, feeling remarkably substantial from the moment I received it. The classic black-and-white color palette paired with extensive glossy patent leather, layered over a white high-collar blouse with dark metallic collar accents. The red floral accessory on the chest, along with silver chains cascading across the body, creates an exceptionally rich sense of layering. The wig has a pink-to-purple gradient; the bangs and long side hair required meticulous trimming, while the black ribbon hair accessory at the crown had to be firmly secured to prevent it from sliding off during shooting. I've always loved styling that blends dark gothic aesthetics with a uniform touch, so when I got this outfit, I already had several posing and compositional ideas in mind.
For makeup, immense thanks go to Xiao Xiao. The focus of the eye makeup this time was the blended reddish tones: the lower eyelids were layered with rich red eyeshadow to complement red colored contacts, giving my gaze an aggressive edge that perfectly fits the character's temperament. The base makeup was kept translucent, and a natural lipstick shade was chosen to avoid stealing visual focus from the eyes. Putting on the black glossy leather gloves was a bit tricky since they fit snugly, requiring tucking the ruffled cuffs of the white blouse into the wrists, which Xiao Xiao adjusted several times for me. Slipping on high-heeled ankle boots, white ankle socks, and the black Leg garter around the thigh completely brought the entire styling together.
Arriving at the studio, Yu Zai's lighting control was thoroughly professional. The white studio was clean and clutter-free, and the key light provided crystal-clear penetration. Because the outfit was made of glossy material with prominent glare, Yu Zai adjusted the angles of the softboxes to ensure that the silver crosses and linear patterns on the garment were crisply visible without blowing out facial exposure. The first half of the shoot utilized a pure white backdrop, highlighting a sleek, minimalist style as I held the black umbrella patterned with a red-and-purple gradient on the inside. The umbrella's ribs were rather heavy; holding poses single-handedly required noticeable arm strength, especially when executing sideways turns or half-veiled face poses that demanded engaging my core to maintain stability.
For the second half, we switched to pink and deep-crimson backgrounds, enhanced by a set of magenta rim lights. This lighting setup intensified the scene's mood, infusing a hint of cyberpunk flair and mystique. I experimented with poses sitting on the floor, propping myself up with one hand, or leaning forward. Several poses specifically accentuated leg lines—such as sitting on a white circular platform with legs crossed, where the contrast between the Leg garter and white socks injected dynamic visual tension into the frame. There was also the backlit head-tilt shot, where the photographer captured the exact instant I raised my hand to partially shield my face, with light outlining the garment's edges to evoke powerful dynamic energy.
Throughout this White studio photoshoot, physical exertion was quite intense, particularly doing squats and leg raises in high heels, which kept my thigh muscles perpetually engaged. However, seeing the finalized images made every ounce of effort worthwhile. In this pristine white studio setting, this Cosplay photoshoot accentuated garment textures and high-impact color contrast: the classic trio of black, white, and red combined with the prop umbrella captured Evernight's elegant yet dangerous demeanor spot-on. My personal favorites are the candid action shots against the pink backdrop, brimming with tension while beautifully displaying the garment's tailoring. If given the chance in the future, I hope to explore more diverse studio lighting styles to bring out the multifaceted depth of this Honkai: Star Rail character.
