After returning from the Kaiping MBC Anime Convention and looking through these convention photos post-processed by myself and the photographer, I felt a strong sense of accomplishment. This time, I cosplayed Entelechia from Arknights. The completion level of the entire outfit and its compatibility with the scene were key areas we carefully controlled.
As the original quote goes—"Battlefield commander of this vessel, long time no see. You couldn't possibly be familiar with any ship"—this fully armed look combined with a massive black scythe drew a lot of attention at the convention. For this shoot, we deliberately avoided the crowds to find a spiral staircase with vintage European marble handrails. Such real-world locations really test the photographer's mastery of light and camera angles. Looking at the final photos, the photographer tried various angles including eye-level, low-angle, and high-angle shots. The high-angle shot in particular fully unleashed the flowing drape of the black skirt and the dynamic tension of the posture.
I personally adore the design details of this costume. The classic black, red, and white gothic color palette is visually sharp. The upper body features a ruffled white collar and red gloves, complemented by a draped black coat accented with metallic chains and decorative buttons, creating rich layers. The lower body pairs black shorts revealing a vibrant pop of red fabric inside with white thigh-high stockings featuring cutout cross-lacing and ruffles, alongside black thigh rings and black high-heeled boots. The overall look preserves the character's serious and distant aura while showcasing striking lines. Meanwhile, the black horns, signature long pointed elf ears, and red tassel earrings maximize the fantasy elements, making the entire cosplay look mysterious yet intimidating.
Regarding props, the giant scythe was the main focus combining pre-production and post-processing efforts. Special treatment was applied to replicate the metallic finish on its black handle and blade, making the white skull emblem stand out prominently against the dark tone. The positioning of the scythe worked seamlessly with both standing and sitting poses; although heavy, holding it at the venue felt extraordinarily powerful. During post-processing, we paid extra attention to edge sharpening and lighting integration to minimize any "cheap plastic" feel, which took quite a lot of effort.
Cosplaying a character with heavy gear, layered clothing, and a giant prop at an anime convention is a genuine test of stamina and expressiveness. Yet, I've always felt that the joy of convention photos lies in the moment you immerse yourself in the character setting. Whether sitting on the stairs staring into the camera or taking bold steps forward with the scythe in hand, I hope every frame gives fans behind the screen the feeling that "this is the character brought to life." The shooting experience at Kaiping MBC Convention was fantastic; the atmosphere was enthusiastic, our location selection was spot on, and the shoot was remarkably efficient.
Finally, touching on the styling texture: the reflective material of the black jacket and the silky satin feel of the skirt hem presented completely distinct textures under alternating natural light and flash. It combines sharp angles with the soft drape of fabric, creating a truly captivating contrast. I hope this photo set conveys the character's signature crispness and mystery, and I hope you all love this version of Entelechia woven in black, white, and red.
