The costume selected for this shoot uses large areas of vermilion red and pure white, accented with cyan-blue and black-gold details, delivering strong overall visual impact. Although the off-the-shoulder and midriff-baring designs set high demands on body shape, wearing it feels sleek without losing nimble grace. The wig is a light pinkish-orange high ponytail; paired with the red lotus hair accessory and tassel earrings, it builds a wonderful festive mood in front of the lens.
The studio set design on location was exceptionally thoughtful: red silk drapes, wooden tatami mats, white paper lanterns adorned with plum blossom patterns, and intricate classical patterned carpets across the floor. These elements laid a rich foundation of Chinese-style photography for the entire set. During the shoot, I wore amber contact lenses throughout, with makeup highlighting eye contours to give my gaze an extra spark. As for props, beyond the red-handled spear, I prepared a small brass gong and drumstick, which added a sense of dynamic movement and playfulness when held in hand.
As a cosplayer, I place great value on character detail fidelity—the white lace cutout patterns on the cuffs, metal buckles at the waist, golden accent lines on the boots, and even the non-slip grip textures on the gloves were all crafted as exquisitely as possible. Throughout the shoot, I coordinated with the photographer to fine-tune angles, such as turning sideways to reveal the backline contours, or elevating a leg while seated to highlight proportions between black stockings and tall boots, making the character portrayal far richer.
This photoset was deliberately completed in a festive red-toned scene, perfectly matching the New Year cosplay theme. Although adjusting the skirt hem and prop positions took a lot of time during the shoot, seeing the final photos made every second feel worthwhile.
